Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

The more you know!!
😅😅😅
Speaking of the more you know, there have been some posts about Survive being difficult to contact so people are having a tough time getting delivery updates, cancellations, etc.

One method that has proven effective is filing a complaint with the PA Attorney General. This can be done at https://www.attorneygeneral.gov/submit-a-complaint/
- Click the Submit a Complaint button
- Select A Business or Individual
- Select A Good or Service Provided by a Business or Individual

You will need Survive's contact info:
345 E Water St.
Gettysburg, PA 17325

And phone:
208.783.0899

You will also need to know the date you purchased the knife and your form of payment. I suggest adding notes about the lead time promised and the fact that they did not provide updates when they missed it. Add your order number to be sure they can find it. Ideally attach a screenshot of the confirmation Survive emailed to you.

There is a "what do you want them to do to resolve it" section and a refund in full is probably the best course to cut ties with them.

Someone I know who had a knife on order with them tried calling and emailing over the course of months and they never replied or refunded him. In their videos they claim they are too busy. But Ellie replied to the PA AG's email the next day, so they are obviously checking their inbox, they just don't care enough to reply to customers.

And if enough people do this, Survive will make a name for themselves in the AG's office. Guy has priors here so someone might take a bigger interest in this repeat offender.

BTW... S!K had apparently more or less abandoned their FB page. No posts in over 45 days and the comments section is overflowing recent complaints from customers.

Why abandon FB you ask? They cannot control the comments. YouTube allows them to heavily moderate the comments. Instagram allows the to trun off comments. FB is much harder to control...

Here are a few examples:

"You know what? Screw that, waited way too long and you have been rude in your non answering questions? Even though I have waited 2.5 years? Just give me my damn money back. I GIVE UP"

"Can I please get a response from you guys????? I have sent multiple emails with no response. I have waited well over two years and still do not have my knife. I finally got a hold of Ellie on the phone on Monday and asked for a refund, but I still have not received a refund or an email stating I was getting a refund. This is probably because she seemed very uninterested in talking to me on the phone and she’s not even aware I am trying to change the email address I have on file with you guys. A phone call would be greatly appreciated! My order is # 15158."

"Would appreciate an update on order # 13878 from. 04/2020 please. I will happily accept a 5.1 from the run you are about to ship in place of the 5.1 I pre-ordered 3 years ago, or a refund for the amount of my preorder. Thank you in advance. Survive Knives"

"Why can’t you guys return an email or answer the phone? I understand you’re busy but damn. Some base level customer service would be appreciated."

"How about those V5.5s that I never hear anything about?
I've emailed you with my order number multiple times and you never respond.
You only say that you're going to respond here in the Facebook post and then I never hear nothing via email."
After many weeks S!K returned to Facebook to
immediate and overwhelmingly negative response from customers.

The usual excuses from Survive for not responding to customers...

I find their behaviour so bizarre... brazen... little bit crazy?

They just don't care. They have done people wrong for so long with no repercussions. They assume they can continue the same behavior with the same results.

It is interesting to compare the responses on YouTube to Facebook. Obviously, they heavily edit their YouTube comment section. Facebook will not allow them to edit the comments, and on FB you see what is really happening with their ability to fulfill orders. At this point, S!k really doesn’t have any one else to blame but themselves, and nothing seems to be getting better.

I can't believe it's been almost 5 years. Time flies. What I'm not surprised about is that they haven't changed at all.

A new Facebook but restrictions on who can post. At least this will clearly identify the shills and make it hard for them to deny being so. Who am I kidding l!es are second nature.

Personally, I thought perhaps that 2020 would sink their dismal efforts. But, federal grants were running like wine at some point after march 2020, and opportunists like survive knives surely would not have missed sucking from the federal fire hose of funds that was sprayed about the country.

Now with years of repeated poor behavior they've built such a house of cards, but watching them successfully hide and obscure their shady shite in the vastness of the internet while simultaneously relying on just enough opportunities/customers to push their message onward, is quite something to have witnessed.

To persevere despite their fraudulent ways, yet never the example of leadership that any would look to for insight when it comes to comporting basic business practices. Somehow all of these examples broke the magic lock and were able to sell made knives and communicate truthfully while operating a small business....https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/the-survive-knife-alternatives-thread-all-suggestions-welcome.1933383/

I disbelieve that it's possible for this one company to not have learned, after this many years, how to do what others have done in their own time and fashion. If it's not impossible, by the evidence of other makers succeeding, what is truly holding survive! back from finally showing competency in meeting their basic function to fulfill all orders?

I don't believe anymore, an excuse running around for some time, that it's a lack of business acumen responsible for their predicaments. That may have meant something 5 or 6 years ago, but no longer. They should have learned how to run a business by now.

But, still, their actions show otherwise.

Coming on 3 months since their last update. I'm sure it's because they're busy fulfilling all their backorders. 😇

Survive! put out a YouTube update on 12 June, making me realize there are thousands of knives still ahead of mine in the pre-order que.

I wish they would update their practices so that years long pre-orders are an uncommon anomoly vs the norm. On one hand, I appreciate being able to pre-order a knife vs trying to beat the clock on a website when limited numbers are released...but this common practice of years long pre-orders without personalized updates is unsatisfactory. It would at least be better if customers got a monthly email regarding the pre-order que status and where their ordered knife sits in the pre-order pile.

Edited to replace "back order" with "pre-order"

I think "backorder" is the wrong word.

That assumes that the product is known to be out of stock when the order is placed. Or immediately/soon thereafter.

Many (and probably most or all) of the orders that are siting at years long waits were actually preorders. Some of the new orders may be a mix of pre-orders or "in stock" items that actually were not.

That type of notification is not even possible as they have said that they count refunds as completed orders.

Reading through their lies, um I mean lines, they are not making those older knives anymore and will only ever be "caught up" once all the refunds have been paid out.

Great point, I am going to edit my post to say pre-order

At this point, the huge backlog and poor communication appear to be either intentional or, at the very least, something that S!K is incapable of fixing. S!K has been doing this (unfulfilled commitments, poor communication and "fighting" customers about refunds) for about a decade. If it was going to get fixed, they would have done it by now.

You mean they’ve been getting away with robbing people for about a decade. In con game terms; which is what they’re running, that’s a huge win.

People continue to think that It’s their inability to run a business that’s causing all the issues, it’s not. They’re running a very successful long con.

It is a "feature" and not a "bug."

Survive! just censored their Facebook - only alowed people can leave a comment, and bad comments are deleted. It apears I am not alowed to leave a comment:

LOL!

They took 2 loans from the PPP for a total of ~$18k, under the cover of retaining 5 jobs and 3 jobs respectively.

If you sign up for the "Folder Email List" regarding their prototype Survive! F1 and F2, you must do it through the checkout process. After you checkout for $0.00, it counts as a COMPLETED sale. It shows this on my orders page in my account with them. Of course, the real order from 10 months ago shows "Awaiting Fulfillment". They are boosting their sales/completed numbers by doing this.
