Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

I had to go get creative for a refund...did some digging.

I was refunded the same day and Guy texted me a video message. He said, "sorry I missed your message but we're a three person team. I was traveling to pick up grinding wheels....". Same BS excuses.

I had an email and text blast that was going out daily for a month. I was flooding the inboxes with upto 15 messages a day. No way they "missed" them.

Ironic how he was able to reply after I did what I did. He was even responding immediately via text. So I know their communication works when they want it to.

My reply was, "Glad to know your phone works".

Never wished ill on a small business, but these fools need to be gone.

Found Guy's local church and sent them a message on FB about his actions.

Nice to know the 10 suggestions don’t apply to him.

Edited: unintentional rule violation.

Three person team? What happened to the 8 employees he took out loans for? Maybe he treats them as well as he treats his customers.

Maybe Survive! is sorta like Paulie Walnuts. He has an interesting take on mortal and venial sins...

(No nudity or violence, sorry...maybe a small bit of language.)

Love that show! I wonder if Survive is haunted by visions of angry and disappointed customers?

Speaking of the more you know, there have been some posts about Survive being difficult to contact so people are having a tough time getting delivery updates, cancellations, etc.

One method that has proven effective is filing a complaint with the PA Attorney General. This can be done at https://www.attorneygeneral.gov/submit-a-complaint/
- Click the Submit a Complaint button
- Select A Business or Individual
- Select A Good or Service Provided by a Business or Individual

You will need Survive's contact info:
345 E Water St.
Gettysburg, PA 17325

And phone:
208.783.0899

You will also need to know the date you purchased the knife and your form of payment. I suggest adding notes about the lead time promised and the fact that they did not provide updates when they missed it. Add your order number to be sure they can find it. Ideally attach a screenshot of the confirmation Survive emailed to you.

There is a "what do you want them to do to resolve it" section and a refund in full is probably the best course to cut ties with them.

Someone I know who had a knife on order with them tried calling and emailing over the course of months and they never replied or refunded him. In their videos they claim they are too busy. But Ellie replied to the PA AG's email the next day, so they are obviously checking their inbox, they just don't care enough to reply to customers.
I want to thank you for this post, as I successfully used this info to get Survive to finally refund my last order. I had previously text and emailed saying I wanted a refund, but it was impossible to actually get ahold of them. I then text them that if they didn’t respond by Monday (this was last Friday,) I would have to go to the PA Attorney General. No response until Monday when I text back saying it’s regrettable it has come to this and it would be much easier if they processed the refund, but I guess I have no choice. He text back almost immediately, within 60 or so seconds I’d say, and offered the refund. Tried to slip in a line that he’s been so busy, but luckily I caught him printing out order sheets at the desk. Not interested in anything he’s selling and I’ve already sold the other 2 survives I had and added a couple customs to my line up. Now I can put this latest refund money towards a new custom from my favorite maker. It’s absolutely insane that they’re still only really posting pictures of the cerakote blades they machined back in Idaho from the bad heat treat batch. How anyone could defend this Guy is beyond me.

If survive would respond to refund requests then people wouldn't need to hunt them down using other means, like their local church facebook page. Glad it worked.

I'm also happy to see this work.

Lesson here might just be that putting pressure in the local community around survive is the only way to get at them. No doubt they left some bad feelings when they moved from PA to Idaho, like any fleeing con-artists. I bet they are smart enough to realize that their con will not continue to work if they stir up those bad feelings and get in more trouble with law enforcement where they live.

They just announced they have a few "extra" 5.1s coated, and can be shipped tomorow. They use the same trick over and over again. Thats how I bought my GSO8, without any preorder, LOL. In fact its all they make and make ton of videos of it for months.... regular preordes never get build.

Weird how they haven't updated their production schedule for over 3 months? For a while, they were doing it every month and then seemed to slack off. Maybe just a problem with their Excel program that isn't their fault.

They just found out Excel has a bunch of bad formulas and thusly it's Microsoft's fault the knives are delayed.

It’s mind blowing to me they’re still working on getting those coated blades out from the decarbed batch that happened well over half a year ago — some of which they say are still just waiting on sheaths rofl. Now of course they’re showing off new models and talking about new steel (elmax) again. They said replacement blades for the decarbed batch would ship in 2-4 months so that was yet again another lie as that date has come and gone and there’s no new estimate given. New videos just show coated blades and pre heat treat blanks for new models they’re making available for pre order with no timeframe estimate. How they still have shills is beyond me.

The latest youtube "update" is the most terrible yet...I'd link it here but doosh canoe has restricted access it to where it can't be shared on BF-- smh

He lost me at ‘we lost our momentum’. What momentum would that be? I can’t watch any more. He’s obviously going throwing everybody else under the bus, and I could care less. How is it that everything bad that could happen in the manufacturing process happens to just this guy? All the small-time makers on this forum combined don’t have as many issues with their partners. Blows my mind.
