Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

To be blunt, the bolded quote is BS. One customer getting an order they placed about a year ago while customers from 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 are still waiting for their knives is NOT evidece that S!K appears to be getting their act together. It is actually eveidece that Guy / Ellie / S!K are continuing to do the same things they have done for over a decade. Same sh*t, different year. It goes on and on and on...
It's actually hilarious that people would think that they got their act together. In the last quarter, they tackled less than 2.6% of their 2019-2022 orders. They still have 10x that amount to finish for 2020-2021 and almost 30x that number to finish for 2022. 🤣

2015: 0.0% in 4 months
2016: 0.1% in 4 months
2017: 0.0% in 4 months
2018: Complete
2019: 2.6% in 4 months
2020: 0.3% in 4 months
2021: 1.1% in 4 months
2022: 2.4% in 4 months
2023: ???

This falls under the category of "Caught in the Wild". I ordered a factory 2nd GSO 5.1 in 3V on 8/16 and I received it today (8/26). The knife was packaged very well and the quality of the knife appears to be top notch. I tested the sharpness and it is indeed very sharp. I'm not writing this to discount or dismiss other criticisms but to point out they appear to be trying to get their act together. Now if they will get the GSO 5.1 I ordered in Magnacut to me, this will further build my confidence in them. Below I have pictures of the knife and the invoice they sent for any out there who might be skeptical of my claim.

Survive/Guy: if you read this, please understand you must do much more of this to get the customer confidence you've lost back. My order is a step in the right direction but there has to be many more like this.

I ordered a Reiff F6 with micarta handles to compare to my Survive! GSO 5.1. The Reiff arrived with an improperly ground edge, it is set back about 1mm halfway down the edge (going to return it to either the vendor or Reiff). I am pissed, for that much money the knife should arrive without such an obvious problem.

I too am waiting on a Magnacut 5.1 that I ordered last September, and I was also lucky to grab a ready to order (ceracoated) magnacut 5.1 that showed up within a week. Survive has definite back log issues, but Guy at least will not ship a blemished/second without acknowledging it and giving a discount. The GSO 5.1 I have on hand is 100% perfect from the factory, that much can be said for sure.
Both of you ordered factory seconds- knives which by definition must be already made. S!K’s problem is that they can’t make a friggin’ knife. The factory seconds is just more evidence of that.

Without quantities, it is hard to guess. BUT, let's say on average they sold 750 knives per year for those 8 years. That is 6,000 knives. The would have delivered 4,960. With 1,040 outstanding. Based on the numbers above, they would have delivered 72 of 1,040 in the past 4 months. Less than one knife per business day. That's a big shop to be pumping out 1 knife a day.

Forgive me if my math is way off.
I started trying to figure out their figures here:
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...st-in-the-hall-of-shame.1613748/post-21749535

I’m one total away from knowing the break down, but the interesting thing is that it looks like their total preorders are way down from 8 years ago.

The big issue I have with someone coming on saying they are turning their act around based on ordering a factory second that seconds have not really been an issue historically. We could theorize based on the flawlessness that people report from their seconds that they may well be canceled orders being resold. Further thinking on this makes me ponder if that is the case it shows just how slow production is and/or with how much trickery they are pulling off as they probably don't care about delivering 8 year old orders because there is almost no hope of truly satisfying that customer vs sell it as a 2nd to a new shill..

After reading the comments and some reflection, I would like to apologize for the post. I put myself in someone's shoes who has been waiting years for their order and then sees a post like mine. I thought about how I would feel about it. Honestly, I posted it in good faith not intending to offend anyone, but now I see how and why it offended those here; it was an a$$hole move on my part. I am sorry.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

“Tyler” is a new employee at S!K. “Tyler” is answering emails posting on FB. Here are some of “Tyler's” gibberish responses.

response to complaint about them shipping more recent orders and coming out with new model before shipping big knife ordered years ago:
“…completely understand xxx. We have now prioritized all older orders . We are a business and do have to continue to market our latest and greatest as well as we release them. What a lot of people don’t understand is while certain models like the bigger blades are slower moving we are still pushing other modes around instead of keeping them in order behind the big blades and holding the whole line up. This way we can continue to move out products as their done instead of waiting to finish the other slower moving ones. This is also why we don’t like to give “exact” dates because we truly don’t know exactly when each knife will be done until they are literally finished . Anything can happen and most the time we are playing leap frog just so we can continue to keep things moving and on schedule or at least close. I stand by that we are doing everything we possibly can to make things right . We are growing and learning daily and only human. That’s said , perfection takes time ! And we do believe our tools are superior. At this point they are functional art! Extremely functional 😁

response when asked how long to ship a 5.1 ordered today:
“… I’ll have to consult with Guy and Ellie before giving a definitive answer. I just don’t want to start misleading people, I will never go there. If I don’t know I’ll tell you. And I’ll always be honest . What I do know at this point is we are back to consistently shipping them in small batches as they are finished . I’m not sure how many orders we have exactly for the GSO5.1s but depending we’re in line you are will say more on how soon you will get one .”

Lol, and you’ll receive said knife when you have a foot in the grave.
Hold up, I gotta check the tracking.

Him saying depending where you are in line will depend on when you get it….he can’t even say that first-come-first-serve exists (which it does not). People still waiting years, while others waited a few months for the same model- completely insane business.

I got a call the the PA Attorney General's office today. Woman wanted to clarify my complaint. Best part, she stated she is reading through this forum.

I told her I got a refund, she called me lucky.

I asked about next steps and she couldn't say per legal reasons. She did say, every complaint they review triggers a letter to Survive. I'm assuming they got a few letters recently. Keep up the good work folks.
