Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

All good points ser. I personally will not enable them in the future thanks to this thread. For my part, I had no idea about their business practices prior to finding this forum.

What are people's thoughts on the secondary market?
I personally try not to own products made by obvious thieving con-artist, especially luxury goods. There is no need when the market is flooded with options.

And now the real reason for the original post is revealed.

Wish I had read through this prior to my order over a year ago. I asked them for a refund. That was 3 weeks ago and nothing. What is a realistic recourse that can be had? Do credit card companies do chargebacks for year old purchases?

You should certainly try.

Usually the latest the CC companies will go is 60 days, maybe up to 90 in rare circumstances.

You could potentially file a case with the BBB and also see if there are any Pennsylvania based business authorities that could be contacted.

I once got a CC chargeback on a never-delivered order that was at least 8 months old. It's worth trying.

The BBB is a glorified review site, sort of a pre-Internet Yelp. As far as I know, the only thing you can accomplish there is to add a bad review to the pile. Never heard of them actually resolving anything. I'd love to be wrong about this; if I am, please say so.

I think there's a rule somewhere about offering a refund if you can't ship within XX days, though. FTC, maybe. Could be worth a shot.

Definitely sounds like it's worth trying then. I think I have a crummy bank, it's probably different for every one.

Either way, it's an easy 5-10 min phone call to find out.

It is worth a try to call your CC company and explain the situation. I am not sure how all this works, but S!K has a horrible history of not filling orders and having customers dispute charges. The CC company might have flagged them as a problem vendor and might extend the refund period.

make sure to post about this on their FB page and BBB. Also, i hear that the AG office in Pennsylvania is taking an interest in S!K, so you might want to give them a call. Best of luck.

Fwiw I never got actual responses from them when I emailed (just canned form letter responses). Sending a message through the website would get an occasional response and I ended up with a refund.

Good luck!

It has been suggested that the PA Atty General holds an interest in them. I would send an email DEMANDING a refund by a certain date, say 7 working days and if not provided I would make a complaint to the AG.

Should have specified they responded to my email over 3 weeks ago and said they would refund and have not over the 3 weeks it has been. I am going to assume they have no intention to giving this thread.

One response to them not pointing out that if the $s are not in your account in two days you are reporting them to the AG.

I would go direct to AG, and try to get refund through you CC company. Do not forget to share your experience with BBB.

I read a now-deleted YouTube comment from someone with a similar issue. He was told that he'd been placed in an "urgent" queue for his refund but hadn't gotten it a week later. A company so bad at delivering that it needs two different refund processes is hilarious.

This sort of thing, combined with their recent social media push trying to get new orders, looks like a liquidity problem.

The liquidity problem is something that Guy and Ellie are completely unequipped to either understand or deal with.

ALL of the issues the S!K has faced since 2013 are 100% due to Guy and Ellie being incompetent.

Read that again.

They lie to cover it up, and make elaborate excuses. However, when you strip away all the BS, Survive! is failing because the business model was never viable and Guy and Ellie are just to ignorant to see it. I cold go into more details and make a lot of educated guesses to support what I am saying. However, the history and current state of Survive! tells you everything you need to know. I am pretty sure that this is not going to end well...

Call the PA ATTORNEY GENERAL office and file a complaint. They will get your money to you. Not the att. gen. but survive will break their neck to send you your money. That's what I did.

I picked up a Survive knife on the exchange and it was very well made and had great fit and finish. Very disappointing to see they are treating their customers so poorly because their knives are solid.

I read through this thread and I think the biggest issue is that their knives are underpriced. They are still filling orders from years ago when materials and labor were cheaper. I'm looking at making knives again and I'm shocked at how expensive everything is now... I did the math and I can't even make one of my machetes for the price I used to sell them for. I used to sell a 23.5in DHT 52100 heavy machete with a sheath for $199 shipped . Just getting a blade that big HT at Peters is $100 now.

They are probably taking a loss on all those old orders of 5in+ CPM 3V knives for ~$200 bucks.
Their biggest problem is that they don't know how to run a business. Inconsistently delivering "perfect" knives is a greater sin than consistently delivering "good" knives.

I don't care what they're charging, or how good the knife theoretically is. They've made promises that they can't possibly keep, and they constantly double down.

(Drops back by) Oh look, the same issues that people have had for years, still going on.
