Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

peterbilt knife guy is shilling hard for them too but someone really went after him in the comments and he hasn’t deleted it yet, just making silly replies that make him look like more and more of a guy sycophant
Yep, I hate him more than I do survive. He told me I didn't understand the situation.

I saw that, he's obviously willing to suck up to anybody that sends him free stuff. Another scumbag.
I never watched his videos before and after this one, I will avoid his channel in the future.

His disclaimer is that he's only reviewing the knife, not the company. The knife that he was reviewing is one that a customer got a refund on and didn't want. Never mind that the knife should have went to the next customer on the list.

Then he says that there's two sides to every story. Seems like a simple truth to anyone with common sense. People paid for knives. Company hasn't delivered their knives.

For some of you folks who want to be able to communicate with Guy in the open he has entered (under his real name now) the comment section of my video.

How many times are we going to have to debunk the DBK video... The blade that failed in that video was due to stress risers caused by sharp angles in the jimping. DBK has said before they don't like jimping for this exact reason and BRK is offering the model without jimping last I checked. If we threw away every steel that DBK has ever broken, there wouldn't be much left. The issues reported in 2022 were decarb which had nothing to do with Crucible or Niagara. Would MagnaCut be Crucible's top selling blade steel if there were systemic issues? Just keep grasping at straws...

I see in the comments on the video, Guy keeps saying his response comments are being deleted.

If I thought for a second that guy could ever be shown the light through civilized conversation, I'd take you up on that.
I really appreciate the fact that you took a stance on the magnacut issue; a particularly courteous one, at that.
Guy was inevitably going to start levying accusations, and I find it very painful that more people aren't standing up for NSM.
Of course I can appreciate it's a delicate situation for folks who are business-minded and savvy.

This is Guy, pushing his own content in another maker's channel.

In 2021, I got a GSO Bsuhcraft 4.5 in about 2 months from ordering. I then waited about 8 months for a GSO 8 before receiving it. Both were in 3V.

I’ve now been waiting almost 2 years for a GSO 5.1 in Magnacut. I watch all the videos, and read all the emails.

Here’s what I have to say. The knives I’ve received are very good. I cannot complain at all about their quality or comfort.

The one I’ve been waiting for forever may get shipped tomorrow, or may never come (based on current potential litigation). Even if I get the 5.1 soon, or try to get a refund, I won’t order from them again. It’s just too much hassle, and there are too many other good choices.

That said, I am kind of watching to see what happens to the company…kind of like a reality TV show.

Was your 4.5 a coated model, by chance? Many people waited many years for the 4.5s then he coated a decent amount and sold them quickly while years old orders for 4.5s went unfulfilled still. Think he maybe ended up fulfilling all the old 3v 4.5 orders but then went to magnacut. People are still waiting on magnacut 4.5s they purchased as soon as guy announced em maybe like 2 years ago

No - no coating on my 4.5. It was the thinner Bushcraft version as a preorder, and I was actually surprised at how soon I received it (I had read the bad reviews, but took a shot). Ellie actually responded to my initial email upon my first contact back then, and she helped me put my order together. So I kind of thought all the bad press was unwarranted.

But then I had to wait another 6 months or so for the GSO 8. Still, the knife was very nice, so I ordered the 5.1 Magnacut.

Since then, I’ve never been able to get an email response or call back from them. I’ve asked about my order a bunch, but then just started watching the YouTube updates…

At some point they sent an email saying they might have surplus GSO 12s for sale, and I tried to reach them about five times then…never got any response.

Again, the knives I have are really good, but the company is just as crap as people say.

Sounds like a case of you just ordering at the exact right time. You ordered those 2 models as they were finally wrapping up. Those 4.5 and 8 pre orders had been opened for years, but he didn’t deliver em until 2021 into 2022. You likely got someone’s blade that canceled their original pre order. Magnacut 4.5 orders have been open since 2022 and I don’t believe a single one has been delivered. This is despite the fact he claims his first batch of magnacut from peters was fine. I recall when I had a 4.5magnacut order from when he first announced em, he told me the knife was in finishing waiting on sheaths and fasteners

About the extensive testing of surface grinding wheels...please note, I haven't watched the video.

Any major manufacturer and many resellers of tooling, abrasives, or just about anything else for machining have applications engineers. Their entire job is to look at your process, hear your desired results, and recommend the best product for the job. They may not get it exactly right the first time, or they may provide two or three options and leave it up to you to make a selection from there, but they're extremely helpful and generally fairly passionate about whatever they sell. I know Guy loves to make it seem like he is doing something no one has ever done before by making knives, but it should not have taken extensive testing to find a suitable grinding wheel for his surface grinder. It should have taken a phone call at most.
Very true. The industry has done extensive testing of grinding wheels for more than a century!

I've held a GSO a buddy owned and it was fine. What S!K is capable of producing (seemingly by accident) is a nice knife.

The problem, of course, was never that the knives were complete junk, over priced or unredeemable garbage.
The market tends to weed out those types, but if people want to buy stuff like that, they sure can.
Let freedom ring.

The problem is S!K has taken money from folks and not delivered (for 9 years!).
Additionally, S!K's trying to bring down reputable businesses with them.
Additionally, the promises Guy Seiferd has made never come to fruition.
Guy Seiferd is a hot pile of human garbage.

Additionally, S!K's trying to bring down reputable businesses with them.

This is what I am pushing back on. When you are (wrongly) undermining/devaluing the product that CPM produces, you are also doing that to my (and a significant portion of the industry) product made from those materials. S!K's business practices are none of my concern, but when you start to attack the quality of my supplier, you by extension attack the quality of my product.

I am limiting my public comments to the fact that I believe the issues with the steel to be overstated, and the attack on Niagra appears to be punitive.

Thank you for doing so.
I hope more people such as yourself tactfully weigh in on the matter.
It bothers me to no end that Magnacut and NSM are getting thrown under the bus.

(... not to mention that they're just the latest in a trend of S!K throwing people and products under busses.)

That is my image. Yes.
Yes, it is less than 0,5mm (half of milimetre) (image is way magnified) with batoning on hard wood. It is factory scandy, very thin. After first sharpening, no problems at all. One of my favourite knives to go in the woods (gso 4.5 scandi).
The fact that you handwaved away a significantly damaged edge after (let's be honest) fairly non-abusive use, then still claim these knives are "10 out of 10" is....well, it's something alright.
