Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

knife on the pictures are GSO8, and GSO4. never chiped.
only knife I chipped is super thin scandi gso 4.5 which I corrected with one sharpening. seems to me you dont know much about scandi grinds and how delicate they can be? the knife is about 3mm thick (gso4.5 scandi we are talking about), with very delicate scandi edge, shouldnt have batoned with it at all, but I wanted to test it. you are looking those chips at very large magnification, If I put a whole knife in the image you wouldnt see them at all. lets not make up stories. we all agree SK is BS company, an not very honest with cusomers, but knives are some of the best I had chance to play with.
Can't speak for others, but I've done things with various Moras I own on camping trips over the years that would make the activities in your pics look like a Saturday at the beach, and not a single one of them had entire sections of the edge snap off. So, please, cut the BS already.

I saw that, he's obviously willing to suck up to anybody that sends him free stuff. Another scumbag.
He keeps trying to downplay the comments "Look man, I'm just showing a knife, I'm not involved!" Dude's another scumbag YouBoober who got a free knife, and is giving a scumbag company free publicity. But hey, give these guys free stuff, they bring their own kneepads. Oh well. LOL Anyone notice the guy was liking his own comments?

Can confirm. And it’s a 10th of the cost.
… and a knife shows up when I order one.

Man, you leave BF for ~10 years and you miss a lot.

Salted my old account years ago when I decided to take some time off from buying and just enjoy what I have. Unfortunately, I was unaware of this thread and recently decided to break that time off by... you guessed it.

I had a GS0 3.5 in 20CV years ago that I loved the design of but had chipping problems with. Sold it but missed it, and decided to check what Survive was putting out nowadays. Saw the EDC-4 around the same size, and now in K890 which would hopefully alleviate my chipping issues? In stock, too! 3-15 day timeline promised. Sounds great, right?

Well, let my experience be that experiment.

Waited for over a month, contacted multiple times and got told "next few days" multiple times. Once I asked to just cancel my order for a refund, radio silence. Had to submit a dispute with my bank.

So... there you go. Love their designs, love their price point, and I would've loved to get my hands on that knife. But unfortunately that knife doesn't seem to actually exist.
Update to my previous post... Survive ended up shipping after all, and the knife arrived today. I'll be cancelling the credit card dispute with my bank as soon as I can figure out their customer service.

Speaking of which, even though I got my knife at some point, this whole thing was a mess. And it was late enough to where depending on your bank you might not be able to file a dispute if the promised timeline isn't met. Buyer beware with all this. As others have mentioned, I like the product but there are alternatives out there who ship on time. Going to link that thread below in case anybody else stumbles upon this one while decided whether or not to order from Survive.

And there's just enough of these successful deliveries to perpetuate the scam.

Has the knife been used and vetted before withdrawing any established claim with the card company? Just a thought. Caveat emptor and all that.

I felt I needed to close the loop on my previous post to keep things honest. But I do want to make clear I would not have made the purchase in the first place if I were to do it all over again.

Good point, I appreciate the advice. I'll be doing a thorough inspection tonight.

yep^ this......

You likely got someone’s blade that canceled their original pre order.
I'll disagree. He likely got a knife that someone else already bought and is waiting for, but guy needs money so he sold it again to deliver quickly. This puts money in his pocket (again) and also perpetuates the myth that guy is delivering knives quickly, never mind the fact that someone already paid for that knife and has likely given up on ever getting it.

And there's just enough of these successful deliveries to perpetuate the scam.
That is exactly how Guy's quasi ponzi scheme works.

My thought as well.

Another shop tour video going over the steel issues. Takeaway, Guy was "fired" from Peter's Heat Treat. Don't worry, he has a new "much better and with more advanced equipment" partner.

Video is on Heavysettactical @ 19:55

Guy says, "when I asked for their insurance company's information, I was fired".

So the top steel manufacturer and

I know he was being hyperbolic, but Guy Seiferd wasn’t fired from Peters Heat Treat. Guy Seiferd would be lucky to be employed by Peters. He was a customer.

What Guy literally means is one of the most reputable businesses in the industry doesn’t want his business any more.

He’s like a petty ex boyfriend. “I’ll find someone better, you’ll see!”

I know in many industries when you refuse to do further business with a client it is often referred to with language such as "I fired the client" letting the business and others in the industry space know that you didn't simply stop receiving business but you actively refuse to provide any work for the former client.

I am sort of surprised it took PHT this long given how much Guy runs his mouth so negatively about anyone but himself.

So am I reading this right? One of the top heat treat companies anywhere has stopped doing the heat treat for S!K?

Ah, good to know.

Well now, lets be fair, Guy has gone on the record to criticize himself for putting his faith in these disreputable, incompetent companies. 🤣 🤣 🤣
