Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

yep^.....

wow that's bad......I knew it was bad but wasn't aware it was in the multi millions of dollars of theft......

I think Survive "wrapping up operations" makes it clear the issue was not the steel. Did Survive get some bad steel? Yes, maybe a couple of dozen blades worth, max. Nothing that should stop the production of thousands of blades. The Magnacut "issue" was indeed a smoke screen.

I have a little more insight into the whole situation, and it is actually worse than most even realize. The best guess is about 5000 (3800 orders, but some are more than one blade) blades are owed to customers. (in addition to significant debt to vendors who were not paid, and significant materials from OEM work they were supposed to do, personal loans) If you figure the average blade is $286, that means in the end that means Survive has taken about $1,430,000 from the knife community for knives they will not deliver. Ever. I would estimate the total unpaid debt (all groups) to be close to or north of 2 million dollars.

So, the "issue" with Magnacut was to obscure the reality of their situation.

I don't know if there has ever been a larger scandal in the knife world, especially as it relates to the non-delivery of product, and the length of time it continued.

In case it wasn't painfully obvious before, I appreciate you outright saying it.
The number of things that went wrong with the S!K operation are probably beyond count, and it bothers me that Guy will continue to forever blame Peters and NSM for his downfall.
I imagine there are some die hard fans that will always believe that narrative, but I can live with that so long as Survive! Knives has folded.

Just in from Perish! Knives :

Wait…..all you naysayers. Things are about to turn around and that small backlog of orders that is way over stated will be cleared by Christmas. We have some brilliant new designs in the works with some great new steels we have sourced from top end offshore vendors. We really never wanted to go the pre-order route but our customer base demanded it. Knowing how we have just pivoted and are almost fully turned around we are going to offer a one off pre-order for our new design called “The Shank” ! Books will only be open for this limited pre-order for the next six months with a deliver yet to be scheduled….be quick don’t miss out on this opportunity!!!

$1.4M grifted and sleeping on somebody's couch. Couldn't afford to feed the dog. Wife left him. Lost his car. Pretty routine signs of an addiction at work ( could always be gambling or sex).

Doing a complete 360 turnaround.

I was just scrolling through YouTube last night looking for information on a fishing reel, and YT suggested a short made by Guy a number of months ago.
The title was something to the effect of "Where is Larrin Thomas?" or something like that.

Let me tell you, watching guy take big ol' dumps on Larrin is jaw-dropping, and aged like a fine turd considering the crater Survive! Knives has become.

I sincerely hope Guy never works in the knife business again.

I wonder how many knives Guy has shipped since his last video? I am sure he is working hard...

And what about Ellie? After all the years of her promising anyone that would listen that S!K was going to fill all their orders, does Ellie just walk away? We all are focused on Guy, but Ellie was was 100% complicit in this scam for YEARS.

I'm pretty sure she gets half the blame in the divorce.

From his latest blade finishing and peening videos it sounds like he is trying to get some local machine shops to "take over" and I am guessing they think they are getting a business with thousands of nearly ready to go blades and materials. I guess they don't realize all of those blades and materials were already sold years ago just never delivered to the real owners. Hope they do some research before the dive in too deep

yeah, and the won't necessarily be knife makers, more like generic, skilled machinists.
The implication of all that, of course, is that if Joe Schmoe's Machine Shop can produce the product, who ever needed guy in the mix?
I can't wait to hear how Joe Schmoe mucked up a bunch of knives and they aren't to Guy's standards, but he's shipping them out anyway because he's literally got no recourse left.

Watch out, Joe Schmoe... Watch out.

How is he going to start shipping anything? I don’t see how he’ll pay for the postage (already paid for by the customer at time of purchase)?
