Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

I placed an order for a knife and waited almost three years and it never came even though I was told three times it was almost done and would ship.
I got lucky and got fed up and asked for a refund which they sent me almost immediately. Can’t believe this is still going on with customers.
Well S!K shut its doors forever, so all this is still fallout from when they were still playing their games. The legacy of Guy Seiferd is one of outstanding disappointment.

Don't those who ordered and paid for have liens too over the blanks?
……..sadly no. Yours is an unsecured debt and as such those with secured debt (banks or other contractual creditors) will have first pickings over anything that was there. In the reading of it it looks like Sly Guy may have actually used some of his plant as security with multiple independent lenders as well (ie several people think they have a claim on his “shop bucket” etc). The customers always loose out. I do not intend to rub salt into your wounds and do genuinely feel for the people he duped, but this outcome had been flagged for years and people kept placing orders….

While I am sorry for those who are left w/o I am also glad to see that the shop is closed because while many are now left w/o a product or money the charade of this business is finally ended and no more victims can arise from it. The best many hope to see is someone some how pick up the unfinished blades clean them up and finish them and offer them at a discount to those who didn't get one. If someone can and did do this at say their cost to finish the knives it would be a great offer and a great showing. Sadly that is a tremendous ask of anyone so likely only possible by a large enough and established enough shop who sadly probably isn't interested in what would be a small batch run of some one offs.

What I don’t understand is why were they never charged with multiple thefts or fraud, and put in jail.
And considering the amount of people that they ripped off, I’m surprised that there was no class action lawsuit against them.

Nobody is going to do shit with any "unfinished blades." Even if they existed in the first place which I doubt, they probably would have all been pitched in the trash.

This. Realistically, no one is going to be making money offering to finish up those knives at a discount unless someone basically was given said hypothetical blades. Then of course there is the question of whether or not those blades are even what they are purported to be, how to know who the actual scamees etc. etc. That isn't happening.

There is known unfinished blades they have been shown on videos as for what has happened to them and what will happen to them is another question and I agree it is unlikely anyone is willing and/or able to take the hit to make people whole. I think best case would be someone doing them at more of cost to them and it would be more of a one off job and it would be difficult probably to provide a real warranty or guarantee of the product since starting with a product that might have been poorly prepared. Best might be for someone who can recycle the steel get it which is sad that it further means people are left truly with out anything to show for the money they put in.

Unfinished blanks have less value than some seem to think. The grinding and finishing are the hard part. It costs money to buy steel and get blanks cut out but anyone could do that. Plus no one has access to the customer list. For all we know there wasn’t even a good record of the customer list.

From my understanding there were blanks in all stages of the process. If the accounts are true there are blades finish ground that were just never assembled.

I can’t recall where I’ve heard this but I did hear someone was going to attempt to acquire the blanks for a production company they’re going to spin up.

While it would be nice for someone to acquire these and finish them out the original purchaser still gets screw because if someone did finish them they’d have to still charge money for this process.

I had chats with a few makers after the collapse and we wanted offer our version of a GSO. However this still meant that a potential buyer would be spending 2x on a knife to only get one knife.

I do understand I am merely wishful thinking but also realizing all the many drawback never even initially considered. I recognize the work required which is why I would figure only ones remotely capable of doing the work and even able to offer at no more than cost would be a larger operation who has almost 0 incentive besides a making a show of aiding people but the draw backs and risk are to great for a problem to great more negativity than positivity.

If someone did buy them and finish them there is ZERO incentive to offer these tp former Survive waiting list folks. The person doing the work should not be expected to do it for love (they were not survive) and it would only be viable as a retail sale to ANYONE wanting to buy one at full $.
