Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

Great news everyone! After two more months, Survive moved one step closer to clearing their 2015 backlog by 98.4% to 98.7%.

2015: 0.3% in 2 months
2016: 1.0% in 2 months
2017: 0.0% in 2 months
2018: 0.3% in 2 months
2019: 0.0% in 2 months

It appears they have only been making the 4.5's. Fleabay has been loaded with them the last 6 weeks or so. I believe they only make one style at a time for their facebook group and batches here and there for the Black Scout dude. I dont know this for fact. This is just from my limited observation.

They didn't make much progress on the 2020 and 2021 orders either. So I'm not sure what they actually did in the last 2 months. 🤣

They were ... (flips excuse cards)...waiting on parts. Or else, Millett didn't come through with those blanks. Or they're waiting on blades out for heat treat. Or maybe the sheathe maker is backed up again. Or Guy caught a cold and wasn't able to sharpen anything for the last six months and of course, no one else could possibly sharpen a knife as well as he can, so they just sit until he gets better. But, not to worry, Ellie will be along soon to let us know they've changed up a bunch of processes and we're going to see significant and immediate improvements REALLY! SOON!. Really gonna turn things around! I believe in them!

These people are friggin' bums, and it amazes me they have a single defender.

You missed the one for the new shop burning down before they could make any of the knives they couldn't make because they were moving.

At this point, anything that they say is VERY suspect... While I believe that there are outstanding orders from 2015, I have zero confidence that the numbers that they provide are accurate.

IT IS MAY! Guy and his boyfriend posted multiple videos last year telling us again and again how S!K would be caught up by the end of the year. Yet here we are again; they did not do anything close to what they said they would do.

I am continue to be amazed that rational people continue to support this unreliable (I am being nice) company.

edit to add: instagram comments are once again disabled. one can infer that too many customers are complaining.

I'm not a defender but it appears they really deliver knives.
I restrained from commenting before because I waited for my order and I was curious to see if I'll receive something.
I ordered a GSO-4.5 in September 2018 and I just received it this week.
So what was in the package after this long wait of more than 3.5 years?

A surprising good knife actually. It's well finished with an excellent sheath.
Here it is between a Carothers FK2 and a DEK1 :

And here it is between a Busse SOB and a Spyderco Mule :

The ergo is excellent with a very efficient micro-texturing of the G10 handle:

So, with the benefits of insight, are Survive Knives worth the wait ?
I try to be balanced but my personal answer is No. The product is really good but I think it's outrageous to wait 3.5 years for a non custom knife.
I think Carothers produce better knives and the delivery time is not crazy. In addition the community is warm and welcoming and Nathan and Jo are friendly and responsive.

I'm sure if S!K had never started taking pre payments and not meeting promises on schedule that this thread would be very different. Glad you got your knives, and I'm glad you're happy with them, but I think the above is what I'm walking away with. "Save yourself the trouble- go buy a Carothers".

And think, it only took Survive! 3.5 years to rip off enough other suckers to be in position to where they could afford to get to making your knife! I hope you enjoy it, I sure wouldn't knowing that.

How dare you sir?! They will be caught up by the end of the year. They didn't say which year did they? Oh you thought that they meant 2022? You poor naive simpleton..😆

Did anyone actually watch Guy's latest excuse video? WTF is he yammering about now?

Also, what is the deal with him "tapping" each blade flat? He has posted multiple videos about this. Do other makers do this? Does it really do anything?

People need to start making YouTube videos exposing the truth to unsuspecting customers. Survive just came out with more excuses and asking for more orders to help them move forward... meanwhile anything negative posted to their videos is quickly deleted and unanswered. Stringing customers alone to finance their business all while taking on far more orders than they produce is not going to end well. Wouldn’t doubt if they get up to a million $$$ in back orders and they go bankrupt screwing the community...
