Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

Did anyone actually watch Guy's latest excuse video? WTF is he yammering about now?

Also, what is the deal with him "tapping" each blade flat? He has posted multiple videos about this. Do other makers do this? Does it really do anything?

He probably saw it being done on Forged in Fire, a show where people actually make their own knives.

LOL

“If you run into an assh*le in the morning, you ran into an assh*le. If you run into assholes all day, you're the assh*le.”

Over the last decade Guy has claimed to have A LOT of "issues" with suppliers. To hear Guy tell it, that is the biggest reason (along with the fire, unplanned vacations, the moves, two bad partnerships, etc) for all the S!K delays. There seems to be one common denominator in all of the issues...

BTW, I thought that all the problems were going away now that they were 100% in control of everything. I guess not.

Looks to me like they haven't done much of anything for nearly the first half of this year.
They haven't done much of anything in the last 6 years. But really, guys, we should take it easy on them. I mean... they are on permanent vacation.

Yep, they're 100% in control of everything. Well, except cutting blanks. And grinding them. Heat-treating them. And cutting scales, shaping and texturing them. And making screws. And sheaths. Hmmmm....
Yeah, they're 100% in control of screwing knives together, jamming them in sheathes, packing them, and sending them out. Or ARE they?????

Yep... quality you can count on.

That was a long ass video that said a lot of nothing expect "we could have shipped you all these bad blades we fucked up but we aren't. We did good".

No credit for doing the right thing that you should do anyway, guy.

What’s peoples experience with Guy’s refund process...I seeing the same excuses. The only refunds I’m seeing are in response to BBB and Attn. Gen. complaints...

Who knows what it is now. In the past it has been as bad as you can imagine, from not being able to get a refund because paypal shut them down, to implementing a restocking fee for knives that never existed. At one point they had so many refund requests through paypal that when paypal locked up their funds they had to get a loan from some random guy. He even posted here about the situation. That was crazy. When you look at all the shenanigans survive has pulled throughout their history, it is amazing they are still getting people to give them their money.

Don't forget how it would usually take someone posting up in their section for Ellie to scurry in and say "No worries, we're processing that refund request now!" before anything actually happened. These people are straight bums, and always have been.

A while ago I had a friend who had several thousand dollars tied up in un-delivered S!K knives, which he had been waiting on for a few years already. After reading more into the situation I’d gotten pretty mad, and I messaged them on Instagram describing, in detail, a few laws and FTC regulations they’ve broken.

In response, I was blocked from accessing their Instagram account or messaging them, and they still have me blocked.

S!K is a lame group of scam artists that just happen to occasionally make good knives. Which, to me, all have a “tainted” feel to them. If Bernie Madhoff was a knifemaker he would’ve worked at S!K.

There is a video that Guy posted on youtube last year where they were imploring customers NOT to request refunds. It is linked in a post somewhere in this thread. In the video, Shane (former owner of Millet and now Guy's ???) says that they are going to "fight" with customers that try to get refunds because they are making big changes and all orders are going to be shipped soon.

For the record, S!K did not achieve the changes that they talk about in this video. Also, Shane seems to have disappeared... I really wonder if S!K has any employees or if it is back to Guy and Ellie...

edit to add:

"...we are going to fight you toe to toe about getting a refund..."

A partial quote of a long winded post by her 🤣
I know there is a thread in Whine & Cheese where people get pumped about the downfall of others. Those people generally keep it in there but every so often they seem to feel the need to come out hunting for fuel for their musings. Their accusations shouldn’t affect our subforum.

Fuel for our musings? Lol! Just noticed that her avatar is a logo of their company on fire. Can you blame us?
Man, I just clicked over to the post. I had forgotten she claimed that one of their suppliers told them to expect 30% of every run to be bad. Meaning their claim is that they're competent enough to make excellent knives, but so incompetent that they screw up almost a full third of the products they make. I just cannot imagine admitting to that in a public forum.

It is an incredible thing indeed. And even after that, which makes it clear they were selling 2nds before they even had them, not admitting they were selling 2nds before they had them. It's like, "hello, lady! You just told us you expect 30% of you runs to be bad and base you 2nds preorders off of that".

Good news is, they have switched to a supplier that sends them batches where 100% of the product is bad. These guys just can't catch a break!

That latest video is whack. They messed up all the CruWear blades for the 4.7's apparently. It's a mystery to everyone involved how it happened. He claims a $200,000 loss.

In all seriousness, who is responsible for warped blades? The HT company? Is it just written off as a loss?
