Survive Knives! Epic Faiure:

On a separate presale, yes. On the monday sale 4.7, with the quoted 15 day timeline (and subsequently stated and missed timelines), no — it shipped, in the end, right before I was going to request one for that knife.

The refunds are immaterial to the issue: sure you can request a refund on a late knife, but when the pattern is that every knife sold with a stated timeline is delivered far past that timeline, there's a pattern of either negligence or deception taking place. I'm not sure how that's a controversial statement.

The availability of refunds simply does not excuse blown deadlines.

I do somewhat agree with you, but frankly if everyone who ordered a knife and didn't get it requested a refund on the deadline date, Survive would probably up their game. As long as they can hold money, they can pay bills and buy stuff. So take that away from them, and they will either deliver out of financial necessity, or fold.

But that aside, at least they do refunds and don't say "well I can't give you your money because I wrecked my car and need a root canal." Which is standard operating procedure for custom knife preorders.

Yeah, agree. I have no dog in the preorder fight, and I want to make clear that I'm not remotely commenting on that issue (indefinitely expanding timelines). I'll leave that for others with skin in that game to articulate (or not), as they see fit.

My sole and solitary issue with S!K is the gulf between any/all of the hard/specific stated delivery timelines (and subsequent misinfo), and the actual delivery timelines.

The product is awesome, I'm sure the S!K team are awesome people, but constantly blowing deadlines and communicating either false or unachievable timelines is a problem.

I also want to assert that I'm really not that bent out of shape about it, ultimately. But I do see a pattern of wild unsubstantiated accusations from other users, along with repeated and angry calls for them to fail, and I'm hoping that my input can help the signal/noise ratio, while hoping they actually make changes that can restore customer confidence, before it all goes kaput.

Refunds? Seriously? we are going to rehash the bogus red hearing "Refund" defense to defend Survive!'s indefensible business practice of deceitful delivery times?

Refunds are not a perk, not a favor, and do not excuse, or minimize purposefully giving out FALSE Delivery times at the PointOfSale.
Refunds do not exclude you from the law which clearly states a vendor can NOT influence a sale with false delivery times, and that a vendor most honor their stated/implied delivery date. This red hearing "refund" defense has been discussed and debunked ad nauseum.

Regardless of whether or not I agree with your premise, I'm not sure I understand that request. Reality is you cannot have a thread be "your own"...others are going to express their opinions. That's what a forum is. You can make a blog post if you want no dissent.

wishing for survive! to fail is to wish all current customers owed knives no resolution.

first alchemy - try to dial it back down a bit. you're acting a bit rabid and shortsighted.

How many times have you told people you have every right to voice your displeasure with survive? Care to go back and see? Do other people not have the same right to share their opinion on the subject that you have declared? Just you but not others? How can this make sense?

A local dealer has a pretty cool sheet of steel with multiple blades stamped out, from Survive Knives. Awesome, makes me excited to get one of their knives.

Then I see threads like these...

Still cool to look at that sheet with the stamped out blade shapes.

Survive Knives! are the only ones who know:
1) How much money was taken in.
2) How much money is left.
3) How much a week it costs to keep the doors open.
4) How big the back log really is.
5) How long it takes to process a knife.
6) How many orders they can process in a week.
7) How long it will take to process and deliver the knives already paid for.
8) Whether or not they are reducing the lead time from order to delivery.
9) Whether or not they can survive and finish the knives owed without selling new ones.

There was mention on the Survive! Forum of some changes coming in November? Was there any information on what those changes would be so progress could be observed?

Their ability to refund payments is limited to the amount of advance payments left. It just seems you reach a point where you can't make knives for 2 years plus without bringing in new revenue and the big question is- Have they reached that point.

That's a burning question that has been speculated upon, in both directions, countless times now. It's anybody's guess though. All we can critique them on is how they behave as a business, from day to day. Trying to forecast the longevity of the business, though, regardless of how rickety it seems from the outside, is probably futile. For all we know, Guy could be independently wealthy, and can do this indefinitely. We just don't know.

By all means, pick up a used one. Worth the markup on the secondary, and my 4.7, at least, is stupendous. Their product, all else aside, is great.

Nope....not the way it works here. If you want to have a conversation with yourself, find a mirror.

Silver Needle is the biggest fan boy for survive knives. He backs them up no matter what. I have zero respect for him. Anybody that endorces a business that lies and deceives their customers should be banned from this forum.
You said earlier that you were ( done talking and over and out ) what happened ?
