Survive Knives! Epic Faiure:

That's a burning question that has been speculated upon, in both directions, countless times now. It's anybody's guess though. All we can critique them on is how they behave as a business, from day to day. Trying to forecast the longevity of the business, though, regardless of how rickety it seems from the outside, is probably futile. For all we know, Guy could be independently wealthy, and can do this indefinitely. We just don't know.

If Guy were independently wealthy he would have self financed, rather than the preorder investor disaster.

Silver Needle is the biggest fan boy for survive knives. He backs them up no matter what. I have zero respect for him. Anybody that endorces a business that lies and deceives their customers should be banned from this forum.

So I had another experience with Survive........

I ordered 2 knives from Survive and received them in less than two months, both Monday/Limited and UB sales. Waiting on another Monday sale purchase, been a month, so no issue. Just to be clear I didn't participate in pre/pre-pre/other type of sale, so didn't expect an unreasonable wait or get one. I'm more than fine to order another Monday/Limited sale from Survive, as the've met my expectations 100%. The only endorsement I have is to read the website and do some research before you buy as you should do before ordering anything online from anyone. Also use purchase protection and/or American Express. I did on both counts and am completely happy with my purchases. Going motorcycle camping with my 4.7 CRU-V UB this weekend and will have a blast.

On the flip side, the reason for the thread......If they haven't met your expectations get your money back and move on with life. Trying to figure out what's going on at a private company run by the founders is a waste of time, because the speculation is all made up until something actually happens or gets reported by the owners. Trying to change the business practice of a a private company run by the founders on an internet forum is even more of a waste of time. SAVE YOURSELF, MOVE ON ALREADY, plenty of knife makers out there, a ton on BF just a click away making every type of blade in most every steel from all over the world.

No way discounting your experience, but mine was great and I would buy again given the parameters above. I could care less if Survive survives or delivers or doesn't or how they run their company or don't, that's Survives problem, not mine. I bought some knives, I like them, I'm going to go outside and use them and suggest you grab your knife of choice and hit the woods somewhere close or far away.

When did your orders take place? I bought a monday six months ago and got in a month.. but recent monday orders have been taking several months which is Way beyond the stated 10~15 days lead time. It woudln't normally be such a big deal but in this case influenced my purchase as I was expecting it be in before deer season. Still haven't gotten mine and going on two months.

I've got ordered and shipped dates (received after shipping but not sure when).
August 19 shipped September 20th. CRUV 4.7
September 7 shipped October 4th. CRUV UB 4.7
October 11th Still waiting. CPM154 4.7

The last one was a crapshoot for a gift, so if the're off the rails on timing, i'll get a refund (through them or Amex) and try and get a Carothers Field/EDC or Fiddleback mid-tech Kephart instead. No sleep lost.

Yeah. It was a joke. Point was that we can't know anything for sure, other than what they do in trade with the public.

Looks like they're burying their heads back in the sand in the "Misleading Lead Time Estimates" thread in the Survive! Forum.

In 6 months let us know how it's going again will ya?

I support them. But I don't endorse them. They're not immune from my complaint, but neither do I wish them to fail.

Ditto. I spoke to Ellie yesterday (11/07/2016) in fact about my pre-sale GSO 2.7. She said they were finishing up the 4.7's today and Guy would be working on the 2.7's. Mine should ship in a couple weeks.
I DO support them.

On a side note, I bought a t-shirt and some patches yesterday (THANK YOU ELLIE for stocking 3XL!!!!). Already got that shipping notice.

First Alchemy- Has your knife maker friend been able to make that account yet?
Thanks

Thank you Ramrodmb. I'm the first to admit I've had complaints but will say they have been legitimate about the stated delivery times. That's old news.

First Alchemy has flamed hard and been warned by a mod. I have little tolerance for the statements he made if he has no intention of backing it up.

Then he insults Silver for asking the question. Really?

So, First Alchemy, are you going to "deliver" on what YOU say? Looks like the epitome of the word hypocrisy to me.

Go ahead and insult me if you wish. I could care less. You made the statement about your knifemaker "friend" and his statement/video, etc. We're all waiting for you to back that up. Or move on please.

I'm so glad I decided against it when I was considering a knife from this company back in 2013.

I really liked the look of their knives and the reviews I read, but even then the order process seemed iffy to me at best. Apparently things only got worse over time.

I would ask for a refund ASAP because I can't imagine them being around for long the way they think a business should be run.

My informant uses Peter's heat treating he got his information direct from them. he's very well connected in the knife industry and he wouldn't just make up BS. If I was a small business owner and no way in hell I would come on a public forum and be held accountable for calling somebody out. Whether you believe me or not I'm calling like it is they won't be in business much longer I give it 6 months. This company deceives and lies to their customers. I've requested a refund almost a month ago and still have not received it I'm extremely aggravated to the maximum level with this company. There's no way in hell they could ever earn my trust our business again. guarantee that

Right. Someone at peters is divulging confidential client information.

So libel against one company wasn't enough - now you're going for two.

Nice.

Logos on blades misaligned on purpose to get Factory seconds out the door for quick cash flow that is exactly what a representative for Peter's Heat Treating said

That is the kind of claim that really needs some backing up. Maybe hearing from a primary source?

Otherwise....not cool or "buyable."

Yep. I'm not sure if Peters has a rep on the forum, but if they do, someone might want to let them know that this hombre is tossing around unfounded allegations involving their company... very not cool.

Yeah...its one thing to be unsatisfied, or even very unsatisfied, with one's experience with a company's practices or products. That's fine. That's part of what this subforum is here for.

But stepping it up to toss out unsubstantiated claims like that seems like a whole other thing. That's not right. I don't think that's in the spirit if GBU at all. :thumbdn:
