The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

does anybody else's hation zero have an extremely stiff detent? I'm hoping it breaks in a bit, don't want to have to send it back.

From what I've read and from the one I've handled, this is normal on the Neon zero

got the first beauty marks changing a flat tire today!

From what I've read and from the one I've handled, this is normal on the Neon zero

I handled the 10 first Zeros that hit the US and they all had really nice detents. From then onwards, I had heard of people who had an extremely difficult time opening their knife which was not my experience until I had recently gone back and handled a newer one which indeed had quite a tough detent that was definitely more than ideal. I think the workshop should address this and had spoken with them to which they agreed it was on the hard side and they would take a look (personally, I think a detent that heavy is a defect, compounded even more by the fact that the Zero still has a press-fit lock insert, big negative in my opinion) The clip tension on ALL the Zero's I've handled as well is overly heavy, on the original Zero I had and now the Retro Zero I've bent the clip back slightly just to get it to a state where I can clip it on my jeans.

As for breaking in, the detent will loosen up just a tiny bit. But not by much unfortunately and you'll probably become better at flipping the knife which will make it seem lighter as well

And a family picture from me as well :)

my zero has broken in pretty good over time, still on the tough side but totally manageable.

the clip is ok on mine, but most of my pants already have the hem on the pocket worn out anyway.
probably would be troublesome on a new pair of pants though

Anyone have any advice on dealing with the free spinning pivot? I have the appropriate driver, and I've tried torquing the blade vertically and horizontally, but I cant get it to break loose.

Heat it to break the thread locker
Thanks, I didn't think I'd need to use heat since the knife was new from the factory, but heat did in fact do the trick. I used a soldering iron and it loosened the pivot screw to the point where I could undo it. Altho to my chagrin I had already chowdered the head using a soft driver :/

I did the same on an RDD that I bought second hand and Shirogorov replaced the pivot screw

I was using a titanium bit from REK, and both the factory screw and the REK bit were damaged from my initial efforts. Thankfully I also had a replacement pivot screw set from REK so not really a big deal, altho the REK screw would not thread into the factory female. I'm just glad REK offers the parts otherwise I would be in a world of hurt rn.

Are there any lefty versions available, or that can be custom made?
Per the Shirogorov forum at another site they do not make any of their knives for lefties, with a pocket clip for tip-down carry nor any fixed-blades. There was one knife they made a while ago that allowed for placement of the pocket clip on either side of the handle and, if I remember correctly, had an axis-style lock.
