The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

I never heard of a Shiro axis lock. How big are they and how do I buy one?

This is an old model that has been discontinued, the blade is 3.5" Russian D2 and the handle is about 4.5".

It originally came with blackened wood scales but I had some custom one's made by a forum member here.

Nobody knows what the R stands for? I see F95T models, which apparently people call Turtles, but I can't find anything on F95R's.

Recon1 has the new "three bear" F95s labelled as F95R on their site. That's the only place I've seen them called that.

The new system that Shirogorov is using for their "serial" (production) knives is as follows:

1. Basic
- Plain blades with no additional features (e.g. no gimping)
- Blade steels such as S30V, Elmax, etc.
- Tumbled handles and basic scale materials (e.g. G10 where applicable).

These knives are marked with 1 bear

2. Advanced
Type A:
- Plain blades with no additional features (e.g. no gimping)
- Blade steels such as S90V, M390, Vanax 37, etc.
- Tumbled handles and advanced scale materials (e.g. carbon fiber where applicable)

Type B:
- Blades with additional features (such as gimping or 5/6ths blade grinds).
- Blade steels such as S30V, Elmax, etc.
- Tumbled handles and advanced scale materials (e.g. carbon fiber where applicable)

These knives are marked with 2 bears

3. Maximum
- Blades with additional features (such as gimping or 5/6ths blade grinds).
- Blade steels such as S90V, M390, Vanax 37, etc.
- Handles with additional options such as satin, anodization, and laser engraving.

These knives are marked with 3 bears

These markings will be present on the box and in documentation which comes with the knife. No markings will be made on the knife itself.

Fantastic information! Thank you.

You're right, I found it on Recons site and couldn't google anything with the model number he used.

I am not too active onion the discussion forums, but I am fond of Shirogorov knives. I probably have a dozen. These are probably the best four of my collection (top to bottom):

This is my prize, a birch inlay F95 with Damasteel blade. I was told this is pre-CD
A recent acquisition that I don't know a lot about, a 95T with satin polished flats.Production, pre-CD? I dunno.
A Custom Division bias cut copper lightning strike carbon fiber F3
Another favorite, a micarta inlay CD F3

If folks are interested I can post a few more and if you have any thoughts regarding my question, please post

Here's another of my Shiros:

I bought it recently from a Russian seller who described it as an "old school" Shiro. And it certainly looks like that. Real basic with early pivot, etc. But when I asked him when it was made his reply was 2014, so now I am confused. Can anyone tell me what I have?

As for screws it's looks like a clone.

Looks like all the clones I've seen.
