The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

This one came up on R1. I was initially pulled in by an orange g10 F3. I missed my "budget" micarta F3 and really wanted to replace it. After putting that in my cart I saw this one as well. I have admired Officer's Match Officer's Match since he posted it and while I prefer the F3 to F95, this is one I've fallen hard for unexpectedly.

That style cage is a bitch. Looks the same as my G10 f3 and it gave me fits Sunday. The bearings somehow picking up a magnetic charge didn't help.
Thank Christ for tweezers!

My F3 was the most tedious knife I have ever had to disassemble. The cages being wire EDM cut and the liners being machined as the races it's hard to think there are any better knives on bearings out there.

Nice, another Merlot Shiro! Mine is my second F95NL, and this one is a KEEPER. I truly like it better than my buddies F3 NS in spite of it being SRBS and simple grind. As I said a while back, there is something basic and essential about this model that just does it for me. Two fastener construction like my favorite CRK, the Umnumzaan, and really clean yet stout design. I think you did GREAT!

I feel the same way about the F3 to the F3NS - I just like the simplicity of it. Frankly I think the SRBS are a bit better.

I think Shiro has the F95's dialed in as good as they can get. In my opinion they are the best models they make. My brown 95 operates better than any of the other ones I have.

With my MEFP version, you can easily slide the lockbar over to the stop, it does it simply by gripping the knife firm, then the lock sticks prior to releasing. I read it was common with the F95’s, but my new F95 Zero doesn’t do it, the lockbar snaps into place and doesn’t budge much at all without really pressing on it. They definitely made a slight change in the fit I believe.
