The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

If what was written at EBH is correct, Jhileman79 Jhileman79 , then it's indeed the 4th CD Shiro made. Custom division runs can vary from 30-100 pcs from what I've seen. USN is currently shut down for some time as they transition to a new platform, so we can't dig through their voluminous Shiro pages to find an answer. Unfortunately, they'll be starting with a fresh slate there, but Tom told me he's saved about 60 threads to upload over time once they get up and running again. I could write him when I get a minute and ask about that first run.

Received an unexpected package today…actually gave up on it about a month ago as it was coming from Shirogorov country so to speak.
But after 4 months it showed up 😆😆😆

I will say, it really does feel Soooo much more hydraulic and smooth and crazy fast. I know it’s not a CD, but it’s Damn close To the ones I have handled.

So that's the new production Hati? Shouldn't the inside of the show scale be milled too?
Anyway I'm waiting for mine

Actually, you don’t want the inside of the show scale milled if it’s Carbon Fiber or composite. Milling does nothing to drop weight from CF and cause it to flex too much. By keeping it a solid piece of CF it’s much stronger. That’s why they also put the backspacer on this CF Hati Gen3 model so you get zero flex when gripped for use. This is also why I sold my Koenig Arius CF because they internally mill the show scale causing way too much flex when gripped even with casual use. I mean it looks great, but I actually use my knives 😆. Nothing to be gained from internal milling on CF, just my 2 ¢ worth 🤙

Also, just to clarify, those are aftermarket SRRB that I installed. It comes with MRBS, which are the small 1mm round bearings.

I want to clean mine soon. What do you use for lubrication? Someone said there's powder too, someone else said nano oil 10 weight or something.

I use 10w Nano Oil. You don’t have to go crazy. If you haven’t cleaned it since you received it, then make sure to really clean the disk bearing carrier and the small bearing really well as Shiro use a grease type lubricant. I have a knife tray, but make sure to take it apart in an area where if a bearing rolls off you can find it 😆

Yeah I found out the hard way when I opened my southard!

I use KPL...it comes in different weights...pick the one that fits you needs and preferences...could also consider Miltec-1

checked some video on youtube and came back to this topic, it seems that the first ever Gen 3 Hati (i.e. LVCKS special) does have some sort of milling on the CF🤔

Yep, I can see it from the Vid you posted. That was the first Hati Gen3. After they made it I’m sure they realized nothing to be gained from milling the show side CF scale. I‘m happy mine is not milled.

ok guys I need your help now lmao, maybe I shouldn't have taken it apart in the first place 🤡
I couldn't get my blade back to centre without tighten the pivot down to the point where it is hard to open.
I've double checked the direction of the MRBS and I'm sure both of them are facing the same way they came out of the box.
I tried to loosen it back a little bit, but the tip is now ever so slightly tilted towards the show side, and the movement has definitely gotten worse

Is the lube I'm using part of the problem? It's just some genaric grease for my Makita drill
I have no idea whatever grease Shiro used but it must be something nice, no break-in period at all, just flies out and drop shut out of the box
god I hate myself for my curiosity now🤡🤡🤡

You need to completely disassemble and clean all the grease out of the bearings and bearing race with alcohol. More than likely you have a small foreign object in the bearings and it’s causing the issue. make sure to just use a small amount of lightweight oil, 10w nano oil, or even some clipper oil from some shears if you have that laying around. That should fix it. I’ve had this happen to me before, never figured out what it was, but after a tear down and thorough re-cleaning of bearings and race fixed it. Also make sure to clean the pivot and blade pivot hole. Could be something as simple as some dried loctite fell in while you reassembled.

hope that helps 🤙

I use KPL after a conversation with a source at Shirogorov where they said the factory uses a mix of a Russian lube (called Tsiatim-201 or Ciatim-201) and KPL. I prefer the heavy weight lube in my SRRBS for the protection of the 440c steel rollers and the more hydraulic feel it provides. The knife is still very quick to open but glides shut more than drops shut.

forgive me for digging up old posts, but can anyone comfirm this, is it KPL heavy or light?thanks
