The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

Just use a penny, man. Won’t mar it. Even the right tool will if used incorrectly. A penny for the small ones and a nickle for the bigs will always get ya right.

Thanks! That’s exactly what I did! The pivot didn’t need it but I gave it a snug twist with a nickel and it out the action right back to how it was new! I actually prefer I tighter action that requires a bit of a shake to close. “Drop shutty” is cool but not my thing. That’s why Shiro and CRKs are my favorite, slower methodical action in my mind is harder to accomplish than drop shut

I don’t mean to derail or sidetrack this thread. Do you have a link you can PM me on how to polish and tune the CRK washers? I feel like I have worked open/closed my LG Sebenza thousands of times and still far from happy with it. Thank you!

I simply take mine apart and lapped the bronze washers on my leather strop with DBK diamond spray in a figure 8 pattern, and then when I reassemble I use slick-em-all light grease from OCD-4-EDC.

The "exploded-view" photo of Aquatic has been published by a member of the Shiro forum, disclosing some details of CPS implementation on the updated F3:

F3 s30v slim, I wonder if there are many of them. Does anyone have similar version?

AFAIK it might be so called '3D scales' option as opposed to '2D / flat' scales on the original F3. 3D scales were rather common ~12 years ago.

Is the clip on your knife held in place with 2 screws?

Here is a picture of early F3s from a very old review republished on the maker's site:

My two old F3s have got 3D scales. However, the green one is slim version (on the box there is letter S added to the description of the knife) which means it’s got thinner blade stock 3,5 mm when normal version is slightly above 4 mm.

Forgot to add, yes they got clips held by two screws.

My bad, I thought you’re referring to the thickness of the handle, not the blade. AFAIK 3.5mm was not a common version those days. Not sure if it was possible to request/order Slim version directly from the maker. It could have been made for a domestic knife show.

I see, thanks for the info.

That is interesting... and thank you Bacchus for keeping us up to date on the Shiro website. I definately think it leans more towards the fire end of the spectrum as opposed to air. It it is they seem to be going for that smoldering orange glow with fire. My first thought was maybe another technocarbo scale for the Hati Gen 3. However, after looking at it I think it is too close to what we have on the Hati already to be a new scale. Funnily enough the current technocarbo scale on the Hati 3 reminds me of fire!

On a different topic, the F3 outdoor edition has the rectangular 3 bear COA on the version listed on the thread. The US version has the regular black COA with gold bear at the bottom (at least mine does). I am wondering if the US vendor exchanges these as they are imported?

I carried the RDD today and got a bunch of pics, so I might as well put some here too.

As we've been discussing COA's, here's what came with the RDD collaboration knife. Pretty clearly this one originated at the workshop. This is the only black vertical I have on a knife sourced from Russia, but then it's my only collab and Shiro above production level.

Yes R1 makes the COA cards. Which makes me think, they must package them as well. Which takes us back to the “box” discussion from a few pages ago. Maybe R1 is going cheap on the packaging and not Shiro 🤷‍♂️

A very confusing photo has been published in the maker's official Telegram channel with an extremely brief description -- "Soon".

Could it be the next elemental F3?.. 🤔 Does it look like "fire" or "air" to you?..

Definitely fire and definitely f3, you can tell by the milling patter. Going to be sweet!

I haven't looked up what the boxes for European customers look like... hmmm
