IMO the Aquatic, Terrus and the Ignis, and knives with similar scale materials look very different in pictures depending on the light. I think Recon takes the pictures in a bright light so the colors really pop but in real life they look more muted, which isn't a bad thing. To state the obvious, I think different people like different scale colors. When I look at all the different scale materials on previous F3's, I personally like the brighter colors on the Aquatic and Ignis.

I agree. :)

Whoever makes pictures for R1, IMHO he/she heavily relies on image postprocessing & color correction. The simple black background makes it easier to trick viewer's eyes. As it was already mentioned before by Jsega51 Jsega51 , R1 video seems more trustworthy.

The pictures on the maker's website usually look rather natural, thanks to richer background, where familiar objects serve as a reference. But again, the light is the key (c)

Got mine -- definitely more colorful than Terrus. The impression depends on the view angle and the lighting conditions.

P.S. Upon close inspection I found that anodized parts vary in color/tone -- the pivot collar is almost lemon yellow, the bead changes it's tone from orange to pink, the clip and the spacer are mild yellow.

I'lll try to catch the color variations in broad daylight this weekend.

P.P.S. The knife is going to change hands tomorrow, so here are the best pictures I could take in the natural lighting conditions -- clickable, in case you want to see hires/original:

Very nice! It makes me remember though that my Hati Gen 3 looks great in it's own way with a different version of Red CF, and my pics of the Terrus still show how good it looks indoors IRL, yet changes appearance between different angles and backgrounds.

The colors remind me of Christmas! They did a good job replicating the feeling of fire. If I keep mine, the lanyard has to go though, I'll leave it on for a little while to try it but so far I think I discovered I'm not a lanyard guy. Still deciding on whether to keep it or not. Still looking for an Aquatic but seems I'm not the only one.

Are people not happy with the F3 Ignis? I’ve seen quite a few listed for sale already and some for trade too, they’re just starting to get delivered, are the colors not what was expected? I think they’re all looking much better than the R1 pics and can’t wait to see the colors in mine but USPS is once again taking their sweet ass time missing the delivery date. Two knives in a row now, hopefully the Ignis doesn’t take a trip to Puerto Rico for no reason like the last knife did! (A Terrus no less lol)

Well, obviously, the pattern may vary from sample to sample, but I do like the CF scales on my Ignis. And Synov Synov 's knife looks great.

What I don't dig is bright red paracord and golden metal parts, not to mention the disturbing color variations on the later (you might be more lucky with your sample).

The two-tone bead is fine, though.

To sum up -- I'm keeping Terrus and already sold Ignis to a local comrade willing to collect the whole Elemental set.

You're probably seeing people who bought them with no intention to keep them. I've seen multiple listings and people indicating they bought the Ignis only to try and trade it for an Aquatic or Terrus

Well I can damn sure say that I’m keeping mine! Holy cow this CF really has a lot going on depending how you hold it and what the lighting is like, mine has a fantastic mix of all colors and the bronze pieces all have a nice golden hue in the light and a darker antique look in the shade that doesn’t appear to be different from piece to piece. I’m really happy I decided to get this knife, everything about it is excellent and for those wondering, I weighed it without the bead and lanyard, 4.8oz.

Gotta throw out one nitpick though right? The bear etch and M390 etch are quite faint compared to my other Shiro’s.

Yours is definitely better than mine - I love the extra yellow in yours making it more flame-like.

.

HEADS-UP!

A workhorse Quantum Ursus Lefty is expected to drop today -- a proper nudist, fully stonewashed without satin or color accents.

Cromax PM / MRBS (but likely without steel washers) / 3.5mm / 118g -- unfortunately, no spacer, just 3 pins to protect the blade tip and your fingers.

I have never had a lefty knife, but since most frame locks are easy to operate with left hand, I am inclined to give it a chance.

May be they will finally make a righty version this year.

Who wouldn't keep it? The pattern is marvelous, congratulations!

BTW, excellent pictures.

This one incoming - it lands here tomorrow... (seller's video, took screenshots)

Bright reflections make it hard to catch the fine details of the scales, but according to the video you snatched a nice one, congratulations! 🙃

I think yours is going to be very cool, the pictures don’t do them justice at all and you should be excited to see that front scale in person! The colors and textures are much different than pics or even video seems to capture correctly, I keep looking back at the pics I posted while holding the knife and at first glance it wouldn’t appear to be the same one, the way the light was coming through the garage door really made the light grey stand out.

I would really like to buy this one.
Is there any chance they hit the european market? Does anyone know if there is an european dealer from whom I can purchase this knife?
