The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

I was eyeballing that one (I also happen to prefer CF inlays >>> micarta inlays) albeit not so seriously, but I'm glad that Tony got it by wheeling and dealing (noted that the CPK-HDFK went up for sale). To hear that the F95 is coming from a well-known, trusted and established member on here, is the cherry on top

I'm still looking to complete the currently aspired Shiro trifecta by obtaining a NeON but there have been naught but crickets on that front lately. Interestingly when Recon-1 was selling those a few months back, a hoard of them found their way to the Exchanges on here at reduced prices and then all eventually sold out. I'm both patient and picky, so I will just bide my time and will be lurking the WTS subforums ;)

In the past two weeks Recon 1 had Neon Ultra-lights and HatiOn Lites for sale. I'm sure how many, but one type sold out quickly before being replenished and selling out again and the other sold out after a day or so. Subscribe to Recon1's brand notifications.

ChazzyP ChazzyP Yes, that's the one. I actually saw all the positive reviews, yours included, of the seller. Thanks.

Looking forward to having it. Plan is to make it the dress Shiro, and the turtle is the work Shiro. I'm especially looking forward to seeing the finish Shiro has on the CD/Titanium scales. Should be a treat.

Hello all.
I've been wanting a Shirogorov since they first came on my radar, sometime around 5 or 6 years ago.
Well, a couple of weeks ago, I finally decided to start looking for my first Shiro, and ended up finding two that I really liked, here in the Knife Exchange.
I just received them yesterday, and am very happy with my choices! The first one I settled on was a HatiOn Lite, and the second, an F3R.
The HatiOn Lite will most certainly be getting the most pocket time, as my workplace has a blade length restriction. I carried it to work today, and
the first thing my knife carrying co-workers commented on, was how light the knife is, and then, how smooth it is.
The F3R fits in my large hands perfectly, and I look forward to carrying it when I'm not at work.

Just wanted to share a few pics with you all!

IMG_0272.JPG Hey guys!!

Im loving the Bears Den, so glad it was started...so informative. Just a great place to see Shiro's, and hope for funds for nicer ones. A couple months ago, i joined the Shiro club. (Huge CRK fan before hand, and still.) They are a thing of beauty. I have posted a pic of my first which is a F95NL. This gets used...i have only one safe queen. Lol. Im expecting three more Shiros, thanks to this thread. You all are such a bad influence!! Thanks!! :) Will continue to monitor this thread and cant wait for the new ones.

Ps. My wife says now that im addicted to Shiros, i will have to build a "Shiro Shed" to go along with my "CRK Cabin". Lol.

See you all around!!

Megalobyte Megalobyte -- Kudos for super pix of a super knife! What kind of camera/lens did you shoot those with? They don’t look like typical quick+easy cellphone pix.

Hang in there, TRfromMT TRfromMT , soon your lonely turtle will have his new brother to keep him company. I'm really interested in some of the details on that new CF inlayed 95 you're waiting on and will be pleased to see pics when you get it.

I took my Turtle to work today prepping a difficult recess on the ocean side of a house we did twenty years ago. Here's the knife sitting on the bluestone top of a built-in seat that required re-caulking along with the windows, corners, and posts before re-siding Monday.

Hybrid handle scales on models such as Hati-R or HatiON no longer do it for me. I may seriously take a look at an older Hati with all CF scales (or was it G10?) running on on washers but in the meantime, what I feel completes my zest for the Shiro trifecta is a NeON with the exception of the ones with S30V steel. Who knows, I may even get serious about another version of the F95R (I just love the all Ti handle scales), if the price is right. I've seen a few no-sales showing up recurrently, so I may pounce if/when the price meets my conservative wallet ;)

P.S. Thank you for the tip about subscribing to Recon-1's email list

The second Shiro has landed! The CF inserts are fantastic, with juuuuust enough contouring on the surface to add a little grip. The CF is milled with what can be described as "the surface of a block of cheese after running across a cheese grater" - should we call it cheese-grater milled surface texture? Anyway, this is just another fantastic knife! Blown away by the quality.

I do notice the milled slot in the pivot screw head is slightly narrower (same width as the standoff and clip screw head slots). Other subtle differences as well. The Ti slabs look like the same base geometry overall, and the differences are in the internal milling (not on the CF/Ti slabs). The perimeter edge radiuses look the same. Pocket clips are two different styles.

My Shiro needs are now more than well met. One for work - the F95T, and one for weekend/evening/dress - the CF.

Do some of you recall as to what was the most recent retail pricing (ballpark) on the NEON models (not the Ultra Lite) with MRBS / M390 steel from Recon-1?
