The Competition Finish Is Gone . . . . . .

Agreed! Vote in the poll if you haven't brother.

Have but it needs to be a public poll so haters who post yes just for S&Gs can be seen. Anyone who thinks it honestly should be discontinued despite the fact that Mr Busse put CF out as a "non perfect finish" and would like to discuss rationally, awesome, I respect that. Otherwise the polls substance is gonna be effected by trolls who have unlikely owned a CF.

But for the record Im making NO fuss whatsoever over it being discontinued, not my business. Just a fan of CF with an opinion is all.

It is nice though getting a brand new one with a sharp convex ready to use edge and not having to strip/resharpen it yourself. Also the personality between the two (stripped & CF) are night and day.
I am not arguing that user made CF (or just plain stripped user) is better, but I have had several of each and I like making a knife my own. It was nice getting it from the shop, and yes, the edges seemed to be much better on the CF. I would like to see all options available. It would be awesome if they would come out with an etched/patina finish. Again, with all the mill marks and such. I go to a lot of work to knock all that shiny off my blade.

I didn't look at it from that perspective... I always forget about the trolls. :) I hear you about not making a fuss and I hope that's not how my comments are viewed. I just truly love the CF and I'm very sad to see it go. I do understand though.

I agree about signing a waiver. CF's are BEAUTIFUL blades!! I totally understand the frustration on Busse's end with all the returns but the waiver would alleviate that AND more blades would be sold to the huge population that wants the CF.

I HATE how sloppy coatings look after being used. It's not a badge of honor or any other inflated crap...

The only way I'll order any more Busse's is if the CF is brought back. And I was waiting a damn long time for a CGBM to!

Yeah signing a waver would be fine or Busse could give the option of having tool marks removed at an extra fee or charge those who send theirs back a fee to have them removed.

Anyways now that the initial shock has worn off regarding the CF, perhaps like a black canvas and Tanker grey TGLB may be in my future.

An "as is" notification and a waiver making it explicit seem the best option. Even a newbie to Busse like me saw about the tool/machine marks and wasn't confusing it for satin finish...

If we promise not to send them back for machine marks, will you offer CF again Jerry?
If you work the knife hard enough, the marks will come out anyways!

Anywho since other have been posting tribute pics of their CF TGLB's I think I'll do the same.

Since the CF is no longer an option, it would be nice to see Busse offer a satin and/or Double Cut finish as an option for the TGLB.

The Competition Finish was meant to be just what it said it was, a "competition grade finish".

It was not supposed to be "pretty" or "perfect" and although I believe we had made that quite clear, there seemed to be way too much confusion.

We received so many returns for machine marks and other marks left behind during the production process that the added time in refinishing the blades to meet the customer's expectations made it way too costly to continue.

Hope that helps,

Jerry :D

.

Makes sense. I can accept that without issue.

I thought the whole reason CF was offered for the TGLB was because DCBB and Satin weren't offered because they were labor and cost prohibitive.

Well it is a bummer for sure

But look on the bright side those of us who got CF finished blades already are now in an exclusive club with an added premium

BTW I HATE COATED BLADES THEY SUCK BALLS

It is a shame that the...confusion...of the few must outweigh a preference of the many. :(

But from a business standpoint, I completely understand why you had to make the decision, Jerry.

Thank you for offering us the choice for as long as you could, and I hope to see CF on show knife runs for us that are not confused by what Competition Finish was supposed to be...which is a great alternative to a coated blade that is meant to be all substance and no flash.

My only complaint on me CF was there weren't enough tooling marks. :)

I see both sides. Such a killer option and sad to see it gone. It's also understandable why it's gone.

that picture sums it up Jaxx. I think many of us has a sad. I am thankful I got my order in for the TGLB with pink and black G10 and CF before this decision was made. BTW, we are back from the sunshine state so let's get together for dinner soon?

Also, for the record, whoever decided to use what one thinks is an anonymous rating system to rate this thread a one out of five would do well to remember that this is Jerry's forum, and that it is rather disrespectful to him that someone or some people would do that to any of his threads... The next time, you may find yourself outed publicly for your disrespect towards others here.

To the other person or persons who have tried to raise the rating up from one, thank you.
