The keep the "design thread" uncluttered thread

Why mess with a good thing. The RC-5 is close to a Leuku design, just need to stretch a little. Basically, an RC-7. Proven blade geometry, Minimal CNC design work, a little more heft for chopping and 2" more length for battoning.

The glass breaker and divot could go away in my opinion, but too hard to modify that in the pic...

This was byrd's post from the design thread.

I have to say I really really agree with you. The current RC5 with just 2 or 3 more inches and no glass breaker would be perfect. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I'd imagine it'd be VERY easy for RAT to produce...

I am bummin'! I can't believe there are no new designs today! I realize that RAT has perfected the 3", 4", 5", and 6" wilderness knife categories...but there have to be some more designs out there that are Ratworthy...

Oh, I should mention that my trowel-like design is not intended as a small piece. Probably something like a 6" blade give or take. :)

I like the last post there. Nice looking blade.

You mean mine? Thanks!
I also really like the RC-4 with the Scandi grind and no choil, kind of like a heavy duty Mora:cool:

That RC-7 Leuku and the Wharnie Izula make me want to slap down some money for them right now. These two would make a great couple -the leuku as a nice, all-round chop or slice stuff up big blade and the Wharnizula as a wicked, sharp little slicer and splinter-getter!

If there wasn't any curve, I would like it more. I like it like it is, but even that slight curve makes me like it less. I don't really like curved blades, unless it is a Khuk.

I'd prefer it that way too, but it's still a jaw-dropping design! For my own use I'd like the the curves ironed out. :)

Looks too much like a Busse. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it doesn't scream RAT

I noticed that with a few of the bigger designs, they say Busse to me.

They look great and I would love them, but they don't look very RAT.

To me, Jeff and Mike's designs have a very form follows function, no frills solid user feel to them that appeals to me more than a "pretty" blade does.

I like jaguarpaw's design a lot. I see what you mean about it eating up your little finger though. Maybe keep the blade design, and change the pommel a bit.
