The keep the "design thread" uncluttered thread

I noticed that with a few of the bigger designs, they say Busse to me.

They look great and I would love them, but they don't look very RAT.

To me, Jeff and Mike's designs have a very form follows function, no frills solid user feel to them that appeals to me more than a "pretty" blade does.

I noticed that about mine, after I took a few looks I realized it seemed more in line with MercWorx or Grayman's offerings. But there's no reason RAT can't transform the basic concept, its just an uncut diamond :D

I think RAT designs will always be sort of simple. We may lose some folks that want that "cool" look but our knives pretty much fit our philosophy. What can I say, we're simple-minded individuals. ;)

Now that would be cool. Fits our style exactly.

K.I.S.S.

My dad drilled that phrase into my head all my life.;)

CRKT already has that one. We don't want another SERE, now do we? :D :D :D

Ocham's Razor would be a sweet name for a RAT credit card knife, now that I think of it...

Amen! I think ZomaiO's sketches in post #32 would make fore a more RAT-esque choppa (the leuku, the leuku).

I really like samhain73's nessmuky design in post #23.

And miro44's neat barong-ish bush blade in post #38 looks pretty awesome and fits RAT's jungle-centric attitude well.

I think that's enough of me spouting my stupid opinions about what the RATboys should and shouldn't produce.

Jaguarpaw made a helluva first post in the design thread. That knife looks really cool.

Holy crap. I think Cap_chau wins. You can close the design thread now.

I would seriously never carry another folder if that was put into production (in plain edge of course!)

Though I do wonder what the lock would be. I'd have to assume a liner (nice and beefy though). This one has my vote guaranteed.

Regarding Busse knives, the company appears recluse, hidden almost, and their knives are available at knife shows or at the mercy of the profiteering knife enthusiast. It seems people buy many Busse knives and sell them at a hefty profit, in order to get theirs for free. I know I can't afford to spend 500 on one knife and whack it into a tree, or dig a trench. The RC5, on the other hand, is a beast. I bought 3 of them already for the price of one small Busse. If I spend 500-1000, I’m buying another pistol or rifle (or the entire RC line of knives ;) .

Astute observation.

I doubt you will lose anyone here. I think everyone here knows RAT knives put function and performance first...although your knives are "cool", I think we realize that is far down on your list of requirements for a knife.

I'd like to hear any opinions on a RAT Khukri, similar to the idea I posted. I love the design of Khuks and would love to get one with the outstanding RAT warranty
