The "Whatever" Thread

it's registering 63 degrees here right now, sounds good but it always seems to warm up slightly before it gets worse, so i hate to think what it means for next week

Holy crap! It's going to get down into the 20s the next few nights & a very slight possibility of snow in the lowlands tomorrow night into Monday morn.Brrrr.

At least our DOT folks prep the roads before a freeze up.

Brrrrr... You guys need to quit posting pics and talking about cold, dark wintery days...
It's depressing you know :-)

How about a new topic? Like what's your favorite S&W Revolver? Mine's a model 15
38 special.

Anybody here have experience with .41 Magnum? I'm thinking about buying one from the local gunshop.
Stainless, target sites, original rubber grip, four inch barrel... From the late seventies and it has a low shot count,
Nice revolver.

our county is out of salt if you can believe that :(

Model 15 is one of my all time favorites, I gave mine to Becky a few months ago, when I gave Dave my Springfield XD9 Tactical. Are you sure the rubber grips are original on the .41? Seems to me they were wood back then. I had one in the S&W wooden case, like the deluxe N Frames came in back then.

Back in the late 80s I had a Ruger Bisely in 41 mag that was sweet.
I never could shoot a BlackHawk in 44,but that 41 sure was nice to shoot.

And I will never buy a S&W revolver...ever!!

WelI, the gunstore guy said they they where original.... Maybe I should take that with a grain of salt.

Still, it's a very clean revolver, nice bore, crisp action firing pin looks good. I don't pretend to be an expert
on firearms but this one seemed very nice considering.

I have a high mileage 15, there is no telling how many rounds have been fired though it (low serial number and warn bluing) Works fine and is the most accurate pistol I've ever shot.
It was made years before I was born and will likely keep on ticking long after I'm dead :-)

Why won't you buy a S&W if you don't mind me asking? I'm curious.

About the only first hand experience I've ever had with Ruger revolvers is my dad's Bearcat .22, (great gun)
He's had it since he was fourteen years old.

Because of the lock? I know some of the NRA faithful were not happy after that particular capitulation.

I respect that, but I am still an S&W fan; they make a GREAT product and I want one of the M&P 8shot .357 revolvers someday....heck, I want one of everything and that's my problem.

I picked up a Colt Mustang XSP .380 today (after my Illinois 72 hour wait period).

It is a fantastic pocket gun - the best I have ever handled, no kidding!

I was able to do two groups into a 6" circle at 10 yards right out of the box in sub freezing weather today after I finished qualifying a group of students.

The gun is a beautiful little 1911, with changes including an aluminum trigger that pivots on a pin as opposed to the normal 1911 slide and rail trigger, and the new XSP has a polymer handle that is both comfortable and adds a light rail and nice texturing for grip.

Yeap - it's "Colt Spendy", but you can see the quality from the mirror polished feed ramp in the breech lock barrel to the tight fit of the forged DLC coated slide.

John - I talked to Mark today - he said he is DEFINITELY getting that knife, but he is saving up for it so he can order it from you - he loves your stuff!

I bet he comes to a gathering with me....

best

we only got 4" of snow last night, but I spent 3 hours on the tractor this afternoon clearing driveways for a couple of friends - half that time was spent driving between 3 houses. (about 15 miles round trip and no cab)
supposed to get another round of snow Tuesday followed by a few days of arctic temps.

Congrats on the Colt, that's a sweet little gun! I would love to own one but I don't see me edc'ing a single action only firearm, just not my cup of tea.

I had about $600 in Cabelas gift cards so I went and pulled the trigger on a CZ-75 P07 Duty. Walked out of there with a new gun with no cash out of my pocket, not a bad day:D I haven't had a chance to put some rounds through it yet but if it shoots anything like my CZ75 or CZ97 then I'll be more than happy!

I'm rather partial to my 4" K-22, Model 18 for shooting, but a .38 J frame Airweight is on the near horizon for me once I get carry license. Have an older Charter Arms Undercover but want one of the hammerless or semi hammerless Smiths. My house gun is a 4" .38 model 64. Thinkin' about a 6" Model 19 with all the target options but the price just keeps going up so fast I may never catch up to one.

That sounds like a jolly good time.:D

Do you use a blade or bucket?

It takes me about 15 minutes to clear the drive with the four wheeler.

Andy, that little gun looks really nice.

I am still thinking about what I want to carry before I sign up for the class. One of the guys who offers it around here doesn't require his students to qualify with the gun they intend to carry. I know I could qualify with my G17, but I don't know if I will be able to carry it, so I will probably wait and sign up for the class after I purchase and get accustomed to what I decide to carry.

So many choices, so little money.:D

I own a S&W 442 that gets carried at least 5 days a week, love that little gun. I have an Uncle Mike's pocket holster that I use to carry it in my front pocket. Besides keeping the gun upright and easily accessible it also cuts down on printing, looks like a wallet.

That's a tough call for me but I would probably go with my 629-2 Mountain Revolver. It's from the original run in 1989; 4" tapered barrel with a matte finish. If not it I would pick my 63 Kit Gun that has provided dinner on many occasions.

Andy would know better than me, but I don`t think you need to qualify with what you are going to carry, but it must be something that can be concealed (no S&W .500 or Contenders). Around here, from what I`ve read, the instructors will provide a selection of guns in case you don`t own one.

back blade for most of it and front bucket for cleanup.
I'm sure your atv has a much better turning radius than my tractor, so I would expect it to go a bit faster.

I don't own a S&W15 but have this old Colt Official Police that shoots good to be nearly 50 years old.
