Very nice looking colt! I wonder why they stopped making double actions...

back blade for most of it and front bucket for cleanup.
I'm sure your atv has a much better turning radius than my tractor, so I would expect it to go a bit faster.

Yeah, most definitely.

I used a tractor with blade for a couple years. It did a better job, but the four wheeler is much more fun.

Looks like we are going to get some more practice in a couple days.

Andy would know better than me, but I don`t think you need to qualify with what you are going to carry, but it must be something that can be concealed (no S&W .500 or Contenders). Around here, from what I`ve read, the instructors will provide a selection of guns in case you don`t own one.

The statute says you must qualify with a "concealable firearm"

hb0183 said:
(c) An applicant for a new license shall provide proof of
certification by a certified instructor that the applicant
passed a live fire exercise with a concealable firearm
consisting of:
(1) a minimum of 30 rounds; and
(2) 10 rounds from a distance of 5 yards; 10 rounds
from a distance of 7 yards; and 10 rounds from a distance
of 10 yards at a B-27 silhouette target approved by the
Department.

There is no verbiage about the gun used to qualify being the one you have to carry (you can carry multiple guns, by the way...)

Most of my students so far do not know what gun they will be carrying, some do not own a gun yet.

Additionally, I have a shoulder rig for my Magnum .500 with an 8" barrel, and I can conceal that firearm under a jacket, so the statute is sufficiently vague as to allow almost any pistol.

I provide a few options for students who do not have a firearm or have one that is problematic.

Also - the live fire qualifier is no challenge - 10 yards is not that far away, and you only have to hit the black of a large silhouette (14" x 24" etc).

Most of my students have put all of their shots into the 7 ring or better.

Cooper - Ruger LC9 is a popular choice and I know a fellow that has been making great deals on them.

I like the idea of a nice shrouded hammer revolver for people who are unsure and very new at carrying, then when you get more comfortable and/or decide you want to try an autoloader, you can use the wheel gun as your backup piece.

Thanks, I bought it to help out a friend who needed the cash. I figured I would use it for trading stock till I shot it. It loves hard cast bullets including wadcutters. I have never grouped it on paper but can hit soda cans regular at 25+ yards.

it started snowing for real about 9AM, but the wind is blowing enough it's hard to gauge how much we've got so far -- they're calling for 5-9" by early evening and 2-4" more overnight with moderate (for Ks) winds and gusts making drifting snow the real hazard.
I expect my road to be drifted shut until the plows come through around 9AM tomorrow.
both vehicles have full tanks and dumped 5 gal of diesel in the tractor last night - so if it starts up in the morning I'll be able to dig out the driveway.

the next round is supposed to hit Friday night & Saturday, but they haven't settled on how much powder it'll drop - 1-3", 3-5" or 4-9"...

Sounds like a good day to relax. Enjoy your snow day.

No wind or snow here yet. I expect it to start right when I leave for work.

I'm trying to convince SWMBO that driving 20 miles in this to go to job #2 and work until 10:30 then drive back into the drifted side roads is a bad plan.

My daughter has had more snow days this year than I've had my whole life.... Shoveled the walk and a few neighbors last night since I thought we were past the bad stuff, they're all covered now....

after a second straight day of freeing rain i woke up with water under my feet, (our bedrooms are in the basement. Best I can figure the gutters are frozen up and overflowed, insurance won't cover anything but a burst pipe and such, sorry to complain but I'm feeling a little down right now :(

That sucks, KY. Hope you can dry out soon...

Jeez, Pete. How much water did you have in there?

Hopefully you get it taken care of before it does extensive damage. If it hasn't already.:(

we got another 5" of snow overnight - our official total was 13.5".
pretty soon it'll be time to go out and start clearing driveways...

Hope you can stay dry Peter!

On Friday, I was woken up by my frantic daughter at 5:15 am. She told me "Dad, I hit that thing on the side of the house". That "thing" happens to be the gas meter and she sheared the feed pipe completely in half. Called the gas company immediately (I was shocked how loud it was) and within minutes we had three fire trucks, an ambulance and four police cars outside. We had the evac from the house and they opened every window as well putting large fans in all the outside doors. It took 45 minutes of waiting outside before the gas levels were low enough to go back inside. The temp inside was in the low 50s...boy, this winter stuff is awesome!

Dang bad luck must be spreading. I took my truck to work today because of the storm. When I came out and warmed it up, she no go. The shift arm on the column just slides up and down. I think the linkage came loose somewhere, but I wasn't going to crawl under it in a foot of snow. Jeez, its always something.

Well, I crawled under the truck after work. The linkage had broke loose. I drilled out the bar that had the metal stud on it, and bolted it through to the other connector with a nylock nut. Not a permanent repair, but solid enough for now.

Peter, you dry out yet?

Seems too quite around here today...

I bought the Model 57, haven't shot it yet but the trigger feels buttery smooth.
I'm almost certain it's had a trigger job somewhere down the line.
