Cool! What's making them come back to enjoy the nice winter Chicago weather I wonder.

Good stuff for Grandma and Grandpa though!

They miss family and friends, plus Mark hates the traffic. He hauls hazardous materials, and says everyone drives like assh*les.

Got home at 1am, and went directly to the shop to start heat treating. Heat treated O1 first, then stainless. Now it`s time for a nap!

Been working a lot and haven't posted in a while. I took a few days off this week and wanted to go camping but ended up changing plans. Since I didn't go camping I thought I would try out my cook set and sit around the fire a little while. This is my favorite part of camping anyway. My wife and kids bought me a cook set for father's day but this was the first time I got to use it. I made a small fire pit in the yard and made a good pot of beef stew along with some coffee. My wife and I also played our ukuleles and roasted some marshmallows. I may have to throw a steak on the fire tomorrow.

Anyway, here are a few pictures.

Nice looking cooking rack, did someone make it?

They purchased it here http://www.mrdutchoven.com/Products/ca030.htm . It is handmade and in my opinion the price is very reasonable. I think the price on the page is a misprint but I could be wrong. I think we only paid $90 including shipping. A while back I had looked at quite a few similar sets but most were either more expensive or made from smaller diameter steel. I liked this one because it is made for 1/2" spiral steel so it is plenty sturdy. These dutch oven are pretty heavy when full. It is also taller than a lot of the sets I have seen like this one.

I like the idea of the cooking kit - that would be fun in the back yard even - just to "camp" when you can't get to the wilderness. I bet my granddaughters would love it.

Jeff - very cool - is that the east side of Lake Michigan?

Becky took the national real estate test today, and nailed it. She is now a licensed real estate agent, I`m proud of her!

Congratulations to Becky!!
