Trade deal gone bad...opinions requested.

If I was in that position, I had done nothing wrong and my trade partner had buyers/traders remorse....as it appears....I wouldn't undo the trade either. Why would I, and why should Scott? The mantra "A deal isn't done until both sides are satisfied" doesn't include second thoughts and traders remorse.....in my humble opinion. If it does, I'll never engage in a trade deal again.......

You need to stop trading on this forum. IIRC, there are no conditions in the forum rule that "both parties must be satisfied."

We are not talking about $50 worth of knives, but 1K. You can't know condition until it's in hand. Pictures never tell the whole story. Irrespective of the reason, if the person doesn't want it, plus is willing to pay for all the shipping, you need to return it. Good for sechip that he is returing it.

I'm no enemy...certainly not over something as inane as knife trading. However, your conciliatory words now don't undue your fireball tirade to start with....had you started your conversations with Scott in this fashion, I doubt his or my response would've been as harsh. And also for what it's worth, you could just man up and apologize rather than the grand Rodney King "can't we all just get along" gesture you attempted.

I tend to agree!

Copy that and thank you.

Also for what it's worth, as the buyer you need to know what you're buying and getting into.....I'm not, and I'd imagine most aren't either, selling or trading so someone can take a test-drive with my knife. As the buyer you need to take a certain level of responsibility to know what you're buying and if the knife was sold or traded in good faith(in other words described accurately), as I believe this one was, then the buyer, or trade partner in this case, doesn't get to decide after the fact that it just isn't his cup of tea. I've purchased more knives than I can count that in retrospect I wished I hadn't....and not one time did I go back to the seller and ask for my money back. The knives came as advertised and I turned them and sold them...or traded them; most for a loss because it was on me and not on the other end of the deal. Either way, the OP got what he wanted.....and I'm becoming more and more hesitant to sell or trade on this forum.

In retrospect, I agree with you that my initial comment appeared rather harsh, & helped attribute to putting Scott on the defensive; & for that: I sincerely, apologize.

All I see here is someone who had buyer's (in this case trader's) remorse and wanted an easy out. If I purchase a knife and then keep it in the safe for months, I shouldn't be obligated to take brand new photos at the time of sale. Do manufacturers and dealers send you a brand new photo of knives that have been languishing for years in a storeroom and possibly even handled by potential customers? The original sent photo isn't intentionally deceptive at all - under certain lighting conditions a brushed Ti bolster can look nearly polished. Brushed Ti can also look like absolute crap under other lighting conditions which is what seems to be the intent of the pictures provided by the OP. We have all had to deal with buyer'a remorse at some point or another, and while I don't think it's wrong to ask for a trade-back, if the person you purchased from/traded with is not interested in reversing the transaction, it is not appropriate to publicly accuse them in an attempt to get other members of the community to pressure the seller/trader into a reversal of the transaction.

Untruthful, dishonest and lacking ethics and now you want to apologize?

I guess i accept?

Thank you sir for that and that's still exactly how i feel, and it is a "brushed" finish.

Scott and I have had a few dealings
always flawless
Hes been here in our BF family for a bit and a stellar reputation.
This other person hops on BF ..Been here for 5 minutes and here we are???
OK...
Looking at both sides.
Deal initiated on BF
DONE off of BF
The deal in my eyes doesn't belong in BF--Reversal--bad taste left--whatever-
If it was done off here.
IT should be left off here.
Buyers remorse may be the correct verdict here.
In Scotts defense..He has always been an person of character and integrity in the time
he has been in BF.
Just kinda scratching my head here.
No disrespect for the sponsored families etc and the good the buyer does do..
Admirable..I do a BUNCH of volunteer work myself..
But jumping on the sympathy band wagon??
I have my concerns and questions with someone that just has of recently joined
and POPPED up with this story...??
As stated by a few others===Something NOT SMELLING RIGHT---Jay......
SOMEONE has some """SPLAINING TO DO LUCY"""";)

Thank you for that, much appreciated and i have to concur.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I appreciate their responses on this matter. Scott has reached out to me via text and said he would undo the trade with the same terms I had offered initially being me returning his knives as well as covering all the shipping expenses which I've said from the beginning I was happy doing. He also requested that I have the negative feedback removed from him account before he sends me my knife. However I have no control over this, though I am fine with it since he ended up making it right in the end. I will be contacting a moderator to make sure this can be achieved before shipping the knives per Scott's request.

You are an awesome member, Keith, & I have always enjoyed viewing your take on things...

I just hope that you are eating your Lucky Charms...because you're going to need them when the USC Trojan's face your team of leprechauns! Go SC!

On a serious note, Scott, I did send you a PM. I do realize that now (with emotions running high), in light what was written, is not the best time to be issuing apologies. Thanks for accepting though!

I'm not "making it right" i'm simply cutting my losses as my feed back means everything to me and i do think you intentionally took those pics of the brushed finish to enhance your "case" and the deal was done on ebay so the feed back never belonged on here in the first place, maybe if you spent a little more time on the forums you would know the difference.

I'm glad you got to test drive my knife and then came on here to get me pressured into undoing the trade.... i hope your happy.

Just be happy you got "your way" and got people to pressure me into doing what you wanted.

Not trying to stir the pot here just curious how can a relatively new guy leave feedback at all for a deal that didn't even happen here ?

Looks like he copied and pasted someone elses sales thread to leave feedback. I see now he used his own thread to do that still ???
