WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE: GEC Outlaw Jack #76

...........and looking beautiful. Should be a wonderful long term companion.

Will

You talking knives or about your soon to be Bride?!?!? :D

I dont think I can hold out much longer on this pattern, I am a jack knife fan after the 66 made me a believer.

Andi, you are a great #66 salesman. You have tempted me for a long time with the moose version as well. One thing is for sure, GEC is giving us a lot of great knives to choose from

I wouldn't wait too long. They're selling out/sold out very quickly.

I got mine today. It was love at first site. I opened the blades and gave it a quick once over. The action is great, and it feels overall very nice. GREAT knife.

Upon further inspection I noticed this is the worst finished GEC I have to date though. Fit is very good, but not the mirror buffing of bolsters and blades I have come to expect. No problem what so ever because a while back I refinished my 85 to an actual mirror finish and now it looks awful. Just an observation. Not the best finishing job.

does this mean you dont like it??
just a little unclear what your saying here :p

It means that I was really surprised how unfinished the knife was. Never have I gotten a GEC with grit marks I can feel with my fingers. Just telling it how it is :)

I already spent a few minutes and polished out the marks. So now I can put it in my pocket and have it get all scratched up again.

Something about putting my own scratches on a knife :p

Post buffing aka (how it should have come)

Note the only marks on the bolsters are from my fingerprints.

I didn't do the shield.

That is the problem with getting used to such high standards. Anything below the normal expectations get picked out.

Love this knife and I want to see it next to a 66 too.

I kind of like the looks of this one.

And I did too, so much that I just ordered one.
First time (other than Case Peanuts) I've bought the exact pattern in two different handles, but I just couldn't resist Ole' Jack. Maybe cause I love the gunstock pattern, and since both my Case small gunstock and S&M gunstock have spear blades, now I'm even with two gunstock's with clips!

OK, that's enough now, with the BF trapper coming...GEC gotta cut it out or I'm gonna be in the poor house. :D

No names, but I know someone who just bought one of every handle in the Outlaw. (Not me!)

They're going fast . . . if you want one, you better not ride the fence too long!

I am really on the fence about this one. I`m close to ordering one. I`d carry it every day, since I`m moving, and have very limited access to my knives, and other stuff. How is it in the pocket, just by itself? Does it roll? I know the size is comparable to the 2011EO, but how does it feel in the hand? Can someone post a picture with just the mainblade open, and just the penblade in hand preferably? Since the nailnicks are on the same side, how hard/easy is it to access both? To me that handle shape looks weird, but not. Mhhh...

I haven't held a #76 with my own hands, but I love the looks of it. The yellow version looks just awesome. The only thing that keeps pushing me more towards my #66 is the lack of half stops. Call me picky, but I don't think I will ever get the hype about half stops :)
Anyway...I might reconsider the whole matter if a 440C #76 came out...

I ordered another GEC Northfield #66 Calf Roper instead of the #76. I just don't like the (over pronounced (my .02¢)) hump in the frame. I think some of you that don't like the way the Sheepsfoot blade sits on a Stockman are not going to like the hump in the frame of the #76.

Art.....

For right now to tied you over.....I stole this picture from a friend on another forum

Lol, it has been tempting but I believe I have the willpower to resist until the wedding day.
Will,
Glad you've decided this; I think you'll be glad too. I certainly was. I bought myself a nice little knife to carry on my wedding day, and saved it just for the occasion; now, it holds a special sentimental value because of that decision. Two thumbs up!

I'm not surprised they're going fast, but I'm biased cause I like gunstock patterns.

Carry wise I compare it more to my 56 Dogleg than my 66 Jack

Mine arrived today, happy bunny:)

Agreed with Kevin, perfect fit but a couple of finish issues, grind marks on the pen blade and a few sharpish edges. Nothing I can't sort at the same time as its first sharpen. Never had this pattern pegged as one I would go for but I'm really liking this one. Oh, the grind on the clip is razor thin, should be scary once I'm done!
