Week-end Post, What Are You Doing

Going to work on a few knives to sell on here.

Work on trying to teach my youngest daughter to grind blades lol

And as if there was any question.... watch BAMA play florida.

Hey Mike, ain't heard from ya since Saturday... y'all lost the game, lost a coach, Lowder had to pay 5.1m bucks to get those ears to leave the campus.... what's going on? :D

Next week boss closing the firm which I work in now, so I join to the unemployed mass near future. I had an agreement with a rent a car firm today and I'm giving away my beloved car to that firm :(. At least it will bring me some cash every month, enough to run my knifemaking business. The shipment from Sweden has some good RWL-34 bars , I'll be working on them to convert them to some folders ...

Well it was unplanned but after 29years with the same company as a toolmaker,
I am going to have to write a resume:(
I was laid off:thumbdn:

My dad was a toolmaker for 45 years at a company call Arvin. And I was there for 30 years. You will have no problem in getting a job. That's a great line of work to be into. Good luck with the resume. And have a nice christmas also. --------------

Dave, sorry to hear about your job situation. If you're not adverse to moving to the South, I think we have an opening for a die repair machinist in our stamping plant. Check out hmmausa dot com and poke around the employment areas. Might want to check with Kia in Georgia too, their plant is about to come online soon.

Will, I really don't follow Auburn football that close, but I can't pass up a chance to give a BAMA fan a razz when the chance arises. That being said, all I can say this week end is "Roll Tide". :D

Well, yesterday I end up with the BBBB Beaver, Nathan (Toeburner) and Ron (new student) over hear. Ron was try to get through my gate carrying his gear, some black bear chops and fifth of Jim Bean Rye and he end up dropping the rye which was in a brown bag, shattering the bottle:eek::eek:, I ran over and grabbed the bag and held it over my mouth drinking the drippings.:D He was yelling at me saying "it may have glass in them". After the bag ran out I told him that I would of spit out the glass and after that he just walk anyway shaking his head. Damn, I guess he never hear of ALCOHOL ABUSE. HEHEHEHEHE!!!

Koyote how are your shop repairs coming along?

Emri & Dave sorry to hear about getting laid off. Often things work out even better than before. Hang in there!

IG that bottle busting was a a gift from your guardian angels and Helen. They're watching out for you guys. Unless you were planning on using that rye whiskey to fuel a forge leave it be man. Stick with the cheap beer. Its safer in several ways:

  1. Won't rot your liver so fast
  2. Will be less likely to get you shitfaced, thus keeping you safer around compressed gases, torches, forced air blowers, raging forges, hydraulic presses, band saws, cutoff wheels, angle and belt grinders
  3. You can put a fire out with it (not with whiskey!)
So how'd the SS canister stuff go?

The canister can out cool. I went around my shop and pickup six unfinished billet's. I also had a ladder patten billet that was to thin, I cut it in half and put a piece of 1084 in it. I still have 2 canister to accordion cut and to draw out.

Will be out in the shop all day Saturday. Got to get 3 knives ready for Photo work. Sunday setting back with the family. How it looking for you all this week-end?

Terry

Went to Wa..Wa..Wally's yesterday (Hooky from work) and cut up some handle slabs from micarts and cut some elk antler, and cut some copper for the guard/bolster for two knives.

Today, 1st thing is to install the new tonneau cover for my pickup then, will spend some time with the knives sanding the blades and maybe slot the copper for the guard/bolster. Linda and I are going to see the Day the Earth Stood Still in late morning early afternoon. After the movie maybe a little eats, then back to the knives.

Tomorrow I'll be back at IG's for some canister welding.

Hope you all have a great weekend

Had The BBB Beaver, Alex and Ron over on Friday. I am making Kale Soup right now for tomorrow. I have Mike from the cape and Paul S. coming over today to make up some Damascus. I got to fine Helen's ashes for the documentary tomorrow.:o:eek::confused: I had them on the couch last week, either I missed placed them or my dog Viper stole them and they are in the backyard. This dog is a crook, he steals my slippers, handkerchiefs right out of your back pocket if it is hanging out a little.:grumpy:
If I can't fined Helen's ashes, I maybe roasting up Viper and put him into the billet. HEHEHEHEHE!!! Only kidding he is my main man.

...Oh my God...

I was thinking "Oh dear God" but "oh my God" works also. Howinthehell did you lose her ashes?  I'm guessing it's like a bad Chevy Chase movie over there now. Ah well......

Down here I'm freezing, it's around 40 or so and I'm freaking cold. :( Got a couple of those "pocket" knives to bang out and another fancier knife.

Going to hear Jim Jones and the George Jonestown Massacre tonight at my favorite watering hole. They're badass, lead man used to tour with Reverend Horton Heat. Imagine honky tonk country band on meth and you got a good start to these guys.

I found them. I put them away with a pistol I had in my hand at the time.:confused: Tough getting old.:jerkit: I'll be 61 in a couple of weeks.

Bah, 40?! I'd love 40 degree weather right now, i was in my workshop for a few hours last night and it was 17.

I hardened and tempered 3 blades, and have done all the finishing work on my exchange knife blade. I'm fitting the guard and handle to it right now, and hope to have the epoxy drying on it tonight so that i can finish shaping the handle and put the first finish coat on it tomorrow and have it mailed out by mid week. That's the hope at least, If i dont think it's going to be there by christmas, i'll email the person who's receiving my blade and let them know that it's still coming but will be a week late or so.
