Week-end Post, What Are You Doing

.... band called Clan na Gael, They would hang out at my tent ,between sets, all weekend . Then the got popular, changed their name to Seven Nations,

Stacy,

When Linda got home from work, I told her that you used to hang with Clan na Gael (7 Nations), she smiled and if Niel Anderson (the Jimi Hendrix of Pipers) was with them in those days. Linda saw 7 Nations last September in NY.

Neil was an awesome piper. Kirk was the heart throb, and Struby was the quite one.The drummers came and went without much effect. When Neil left, it changed the band a lot.
I remember when Neil and Kirk would play each others pipes with one hand on their chanter and one on the others. It was amazing.
I'll try and find some old photos of the guys before they got big.
They were just a bunch of New York chaps having fun fifteen years ago. I bet they wish it was still all for fun ,sometimes.

Man, I remember 7 nations version 3.1 or whatever. Back in .... 97 or 98, they played in Lancaster, PA. Possibly the most amazing open air show I've ever seen. They sure weren't expecting > 10,000 people to show up.

Can't say I liked what they put out on major label quite as well, seemed.... toned down. Saw them at the games this past year in Concord and they had maybe one band member I recognized!

I'm making knives this weekend. I've been so busy with machine shop projects that I've barely been able to trickle out any knives for months. But I've got some long programs that run a while, and I'm over in the corner finishing up some knives for a change.

I have a few bevels that need some post HT thinning. I hope I'm up to it..

Got loooottttttsssss of family stuff to do. I do have to do some forging on Sunday. Got 2 EKDs, an oyster knife and that golok to keep upsetting..... I know why they call it "upsetting" :(

I worked a 4 day week at the plant for the first time since mid December. Of course I get stuck as always doing heavy crap at work by myself since I require no supervision. I kinda tweaked my damn back again. :( Not really happy at that point and blasted my entire supervisory chain because I'd been sweating my ass off while 10 other people from my department stood around for 3 hours talking and watching me. Lifting, toting and scrubbing 1600# of mat by myself, sweeping, scrubbing and mopping our undercarriage inspection pits. THEN ending the shift painting while everyone stood around leaning on brooms for 3 hours. I was rather pissed, especially when all the supervisors stood around me telling what a good job I was doing and how they appreciated it  so I blasted the hell out of them. They went "yeah, you're right" and then basically had my co-workers move out of my sight.

Well, I think I am taking off this weekend. Just drink beer , cook and eat. I need to reline two of my forges, going to try to get that done today. All you Bubbas have a good one.;):D

Well been getting the two bedrooms ready for the new beds. Cleaning up the rooms is a full time job. MY wife can have it. Just installed a new liquid crystal 32 inch in the master bedroom for the wife and me. The shop has bed frames and mattresses and box springs. The gentlemen at the store said it may take as long as two weeks to arrive. I just cannot wait to get a good night sleep. :)

I am stopped on my current knife project. But that ok its a Proto type. Its the Survival Hunter series that I been working on. Hope you good folks have a good one as well. :(

Terry

I'm stoned on codiene cough syrup.... and we just got a severe thunderstorm watch. No forging for me... I may be making a propane forge this weekend anyways. I'm getting tired of the way my oil forge reacts to winds.

I have 3 small D2 hunters to finish up and I am going to harden the W2 blade Nick and I forged out and put clay on. Hoping for a killer hamon. Jim

I have 10 sheaths to make to catch up. My target is to have them all done before March 6th for the NM Gun Collectors Gun, knife and Sword show in Albuquerque next weekend. Iguess this weekend will be balls to the wall leatherworking...

Just got some gorgeous figured walnut blocks from Don Hanson... It looks like if I trim them carefully I'll have good-sized handle blocks and a piece big enough for 2 pens from each one. My girlfriend's youngest son makes pens on his dad's lathe, so I'll give them to him :) If I ask nice I might get a free pen out of it.

Now I just gotta design/grind a couple of nice narrow-tangs to show off this walnut :D

I should be heading down to the south county museaum in naragansett tomorrow to meet up with some other blacksmiths from the new england blacksmith's

I "borrowed" a #100 tank of propane from work. I'm having Kook and Alex over tomorrow and I'll fire up the forge around 8 AM. I've got some steel to HT, a bar of damascus 150 layer ladder pattern, L6 (3' dia. sawmill blade), 1084 and 15N20 (logging band saw blade), I plan on hammering a couple of blades to shape with that. I don't know if Kook or Alex have any plans of hammering steel or just hanging around and drinking.

Hope you all have a great weekend, especially you Wa..Wa..Wally :D

Today, having Toeburner and Ron over. Got to mark the knives that Toeburner completed and Ron, will be surface grinding some WI for bolsters for his first knife. They say it may hit 60 degrees tomorrow:cool::cool::cool:, in the morning I'll be grooming my dogs. Jaguar the Kesshonden takes a good 3 hours to do. He sheds like a Polar-bear.:grumpy: Then Ferrari the Schipperke, takes another hour. Viper needs a good bath, but I must wait till the yard dries up.:D

I am sick and I am not doing too good right now. So, will chat later on when I am feeling better. Hope you all have a good week-end. Still waiting on the new beds.

Terry, almost 2 weeks I'm still recovering from that crud, it's bad. I was so weak I couldn't hammer or do anything shoplike. I emailed my customers and just laid in bed cept when I had to be at work. Hope you get well soon man, go to the doc and get some antibiotics and codiene cough syrup.

I've got 3 EDKs and a custom oyster knife to grind and heat treat. I've finished upsetting the bar for Lorien's golok. You know why they call it upsetting, because it is when the hotwork hits you in the groin.. thank God for leather aprons.

Sure doesn't seem like I got much done this week... lotta running around and too much time spent goofing off here :o

My daughter has an open house for an art project she was involved in tomorrow; other than that no big plans.

Putting the battery in the Sportster so I can get some riding in before my shoulder surgery
