Week-end Post, What Are You Doing

I been out in the yard working for the last two days picking up leaves as the lord brings them down. It a full-time job here at my home. I have two knives on the workbench to complete before December. I have one tree in the front yard is always the last one to drop its leaves. I will be working on that one this weekend. Hope you folks have a blessed good weekend as well. God bless and thanks for stopping by.

 Yum, maybe I'll take a ride up tomorrow (early) and have some of that relish with a chocolate donut  (I could do that!).

Tomorrow afternoon and night, Marleen, Linda, Kook and myself will be going out for a bite to eat, then off to a haunted house in Coventry, RI. After the haunted house we'll be going to Providence, RI to check out the "Water Fire for Halloween".

If I go to IG's it'll have to be in the morning, like I said "Relish and Chocolate Donuts".

Still working in the yard and in the shop. And playing the new Gibson Guitar J - 45. Hope you all are having a great one as well. God bless

Finishing 7 bars of damascus this week. 3 mosaic for blades, 3 mosaic for bolsters, and one lonely bias ladder pattern. Should end up with 64 folder blades, and 24 sets of bolsters. Well as long as I don't rush and screw up. :o

Here is a pic of the bars for one of the blade bars. Yea, its 30 pieces.

I was out in the forge today and when I was going to the metal shop the neighbor kid, Sid, called "Hello". I went to the fence and said Hi, and made some small talk ( he is a nice kid, but an only child, and seems lonely). He asked if I was working on anything neat, and I showed him the knife I was getting ready to drill the tang on. He liked it and asked if he could come over. I told him sure, and after he let his parents know, he came over. Now. I like grinding and drilling holes, but to an 11 year old it is pretty boring. So I suggested we do something more exciting. I grabbed a 16 ounce ball pein hammer head and told him we would make a tomahawk. It was about half way done when his dad came to tell him dinner was ready. I told him what we were making, and he stayed to watch. When it came time to drift the eye, I gave Sid a 2# maul and told him to hit the drift when I said "OK". He was in heaven ( I had him hit it a few times, then took my 5# and drove it home). After it was done, and cleaned up, we did the HT. About then the dad looked up and said, "Oh,Crap, I came to get you for dinner an hour ago. Mom is going to kill us!" All was fine, because she knew where they were. As we were saying good night, the neighbor asked if I sold those hawks. I said ,"Yes, but this one isn't for sale." He said, "OH", and shrugged. I told him it wasn't for sale because it was for Sid. I think I made both their nights. When it is handled, I am going to engrave it
"Made by Sid and Stacy" .... and give it to him.

Fantastic Stacy =) Stories like that always bring a smile to my face.

I worked 14 hours Saturday, and today i worked on trying to mostly finish up my KITH knife. I've learned one thing though, I need to find a class on fitting guards and soldering. I made a wicked mess, and spent all day working on fixing it without ruining the blade. Hopefully the epoxy will be cured for the handle and tomorrow i can finish it up.

Well tonight, my band "The Lightnin' Brothers Band" will be playing at a locab gin mill.

We haven't played out in over a year. This will be with the latest lineup of players, should sound awesome ;).

For the rest of the weekend I'll be getting the yard cleaned up (weather permitting) and do some knife grinding, sanding, etching & polishing :D.

Finishing my shed (new smithy finally going to be able to forge at home in the winter) pulling the battery and seat off the sportster for the winter
If I have time I have a couple fencing rapiers to finish

This weekend we have friends coming over. Will be having a big dinner. And I may get back out in the yard as well. I have been helping my friend next to me get this yard done. Still have two knives to get done before Christmas. And two going out in January 2010. Hope you all have a nice as well. God bless and be safe out in the shop to. :D

Today a buddy and I will be doing some work on bikes to get ready for some single track on Sunday. Tomorrow I will be cleaning up the Leaves before the snow hits (I am hoping it comes tonight so I don't have to clean up) and also plan on working on getting my Temps under control on my forge. I have a Pyrometer now I will let you know how it goes Matt.

Going to Tulsa Gun Show - need to pick up some more handle material. -

Have a great and safe weekend ya all.

Who drove home????? I got Lil Mike from the Cape and Ron coming over.

Let's see... working on Algebra, Philosophy mid-term and music appreciation. More than a full college load this term and I'm realizing I made a mistake but only 4 more weeks of this grind. Next week I'm scheduled 58+ hours so I'll be busy trying to stay ahead of the curve on homework and quizzes. I'm working a looottt of hours since my promotion, not much time cept to eat, study and sleep.

I've been designing blades that I intend on making in a quasi-Neo-Tribal paradign. No power used except on my blower. I've got to get my files out and make a few sens but not much time at the moment. I really need to dig out and level the floor of my smithy and clean out the shop... I need to get over to Charlie's he's got an old anvil I can use, my Sea Robin is now in Jimmy Fike's shop, I think that's really cool that an MS is using my old anvil. Lot of stuff I want to do but school and work first though.

Hope y'all have a great weekend.

I will be in and out of the shop most of the weekend. Also, waiting on the engraved plate cover for the new Gibson J-45. I had that part engraved. And still waiting for my country gospel CD to arrive this weekend also. There is two songs I been wanting to learn. I know most of words just not all of them. But I will. :)

On Satruday we have some company coming over to discuss with us about the The Make A Wish that our son has coming. And by the way I want to mention that God and our lord Jesus had healed our son of leukemia this year back in October. All we have to do now is go up there one time a month and get his blood checked. He will have to do that for about the next 5 years. No more treatments thank God. We are relieved. ;)

Hope you all have a great week-end and hope to hear about your as well. God bless and thanks for your prayers as well. Its always good to hear good news.

Making the mold for a ring on saturday and spending the day with the girl friend. Sunday is farm work and then monday-friday its back to damascus mania. Might do some work on a tanto I have kicking around if I find time.

IG, Dewey just wouldn't stop talking about how great your smoked relish is. Now I gotta find the money to buy a jar from you. :)
