What did you rehang today?

Your True Temper has a really good looking bit.

How long is the handle on that one? Very nice pairing of head pattern to handle style.

It looks like it wants to work for you.

26" miners axe haft. I'm going to make sure it works right next weekend. That one really speaks to me

I haven't been keeping up with this thread the last few months or hanging many axes but this one has been sitting on my bench nearly a year so I finished it up yesterday. It's about a 2 1/2 lb WC Kelly perfect on a house axe handle from House Handle Co. that I got him to octagon for me plus I done quiet a bit more sanding to it to slim it down more. It's gonna be my kindling splitter.

That came out nice.

Rbeggs, that is a good looking Kelly. The octagonalized house axe handle is a great addition.

Pretty classy looking kindling splitter.

This is a Woodings-Verona that showed up on my doorstep. My wife's coworker passed this on to me but mentioned that it was their only axe. Her intent was for me to keep it but I didn't want her husband to "pick one up at Walmart". I don't know her husband but I didn't like that idea.

Sent it off with her this morning to give back to her coworker. Got a nice email from her and husband. He initially didn't realize it was the same one. They are recreational campers so I think it will work for them.

I picked up a flat sided handle at Ace Harware last week. You know the story on those... I have noticed that , at least locally, besides maybe Home Depot all of the smaller stores are now carrying those- disappointing.

There are 5-6 boy's axe handles in my work space but I couldn't bring myself to use them on this one. $12 investment in a stick to keep it in circulation and make someone happy.

Not my first choice for a handle but I feel like it fits the hands well and there was enough material in the swell to make a good user.

To be honest, the head itself felt like pretty good steel but the factory fit and finish isn't what most of us would spend money on if we were restoring for ourselves. It did take an edge nicely though.

I like this. I agree that these late model Woodings axes are not collectible or super pretty, but they are very good tools from a utility standpoint. I think that you gave it an expert hang, it looks awesome and will do great for these guys.

Thank you JB. That was a very nice comment.

I hope they enjoy it. The other axe there isn't finished.

You might recognize it when it is though

Today is not what I rehang but more like what I am trying to rehang. Trying to reuse the handle from that 5 lbs head I got a few weeks back to fit a Plumb head and it is not going as plan.
Not done with it yet but it may not end up being a good hang which would be a shame as the handle is kind of nice but had been butchered kind of.

This is a rounding hammer that I hung on a House Handle, and a large (1.75lb) Collins Dynamicut hatchet that had a handle so good that I just re-wedged and sanded/BLO'd it after refinishing the head.

Both of those are great JB. I especially like that rounding hammer:thumbup:

Dynamic Cut looks great on the reseated handle. Nice color on that one.

Thanks. I used a cherry wedge on the hammer, but walnut on the hatchet. Once oiled, the walnut darkened to match the old stained hickory. I smoothed that handle while leaving as much of the old paint as possible.

You have all seen this one recently, but I hated the way the stained finish came out and I wanted to thin in a bit more anyway. I also removed the flat spot from the House Handle. Now in traditional BLO/beeswax finish. I'm much happier with it now. It's a 2.5lb Union Tool head on a House Handle "house axe" handle. It may not be obvious but it feels much better. Most of the removal was from the top half of the handle.
