What is your church knife?

. I carry a Hen and Rooster red bone canoe that my father gave me to church because whether its fixing the taper lighter or cutting a piece of string from my shirt, I still need and use a knife. When I was younger, in the Church youth group, I would carry a slip joint in my pocket until my youth leader freaked out when he saw it. From then on I still carried but never let him see it, he could only see a knife as a weapon, and he didn't want them near the others in the group. Later when working on a mission trip with the same guy , I used my knife so many times for so many things that he accepted it as a tool. First post by the way.

I carry whatever I pick up in the morning. One of the kids I lead in the children's ministry came out for breakfast with my wife and I after the service back in late January. They were using their plastic knives to cut up their breakfast, I used my TNT to slice up my sausages. Liam asks why I have a knife on my, of course I told him exactly for situations like this. Too many people only see a knife as a weapon because that's how society at large portrays them. Now I have to move on, need to decide which blade to carry tomorrow morning.

A perfect example of the influence of the TV movie portrayals - stabbings, hack n slash 'em flicks. Gives knife owners a bad rap.

I think tomorrow I'll toss the Umnumzaan in my pocket as thats been the edc this week as well as my small slippie but 9 times out of 10, finding the slippie takes much longer than pullin out the big guns so I only find the slippie when I'm dead certain I cant get away with my normal carry.

I'm taking an XM-18 today. Lg. Sebenza 21 rides too high in my pocket.

Please excuse my ignorance, but when you say church knife,do you mean actually taking a knife to church,or is a church knife a particular design or style of knife.I ask because I couldnt immagine walking into church on a Sunday morning with knives on my belt or buldging from my pockets. For me personally, church isnt the place to be totin a knife, but thats just me.To each their own on that.

I carry a knife to church every Sunday with the express purpose of being able to protect my family if I need to. I even went so far as to have it in my hand one morning, in my pocket, discreetly. The reason I have the knife with me is because I'm not allowed to carry a gun on me in this state.

In answer to the original question, I generally carry the sharpest, most easily deployed blade of greater than 3 inch blade length that I have.

Beyond that, I carry several SAK's to church.

I should add that this loadout and philosophy is the same as everywhere else I go, not just church. A church is a building, and generally a soft target, no more or less holy than anywhere else where "two or three are gathered" in His name. It is a building designed specifically to house corporate worship most efficiently. But by its very nature, it is a soft target, and that should always be kept in mind.

Not trying to beat on you, Rednek. Your question is a good one, and your philosophy is yours and is admirable, now that I think about it. But I would hope that you arrive at that statement after careful self-examination of the choices that you are making. I specifically feel in this day and age that the church is far from a place one can let their guard down, an probably one of the places you can LEAST likely let your guard down.

If I did go to church it would probably be a classic slip joint folder or swiss army knife.

I never go for myself, sadly most times I walk in to a church is to say good bye to one of my fallen friends (which happens way to often). My Winkler belt knife is what I wear on my belt when in uniform.

One time two little boys were staring at it trough the sermon, I looked at them towards the end and pulled it out and handed it to the smaller one. The look on his face was priceless. The look on one of the nuns’ faces was not that good.

Most times it’s the gun they stare at.

Gee, dude, that is some good church gear. :D

Perhaps the question is not what knife you carry to church, but what knife you carry when wearing formal or business-casual clothing... I don't subscribe to any church myself, and feel more of a spiritual connection to the great outdoors. For that, it's camp gear load-out for me. Just my mileage, I reckon...

Just got home from church. Time to bend the pocket clip on my XM-18. In and out of the car twice goingto and coming from, then in and out again at the gas station.

Today I was gabbing with friends after the service and was not doing my usual "knife check/pat down" on my pocket every so often. I took off my church slacks to change into my "at home" uniform and the knife tumbled out and hit the carpet. It had worked it's way all the way out of my pocket.

Time to throw my BM 940 in the bottom of my pocket, un-clipped. ;)

Any folder in my collection, but NOT a Strider.

I try to avoid anything mean looking. It's usually a kershaw of some sort, like the groove or the RAM. Today it's an XM-18

And Jesus said, "if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one."

Even though that is more of an anti-Roman comment related to the banning of Jews from owning sword to stop rebellion, most people in the history of Christianity have been armed in church. If it was wrong, that would eradicate most of the species.

A good example would be European knights who were expected to take their sword to church as part of the ceremonies. The only real people banned where those that run the church themselves so they couldn't form a standing army to oppose a monarchy in almost every case. The ordinary people however have been carrying blades in there since before churches existed. Of course we can blame the Victorians on there wanting to disarm everyone and introducing flatware cutlery for dinner.

Oh and I usually carry a Kershaw Leek and a Leatherman Supertool. Not too bulky so it doesn't show, though that is how I tend to EDC anyway. Well that and the Sig p226 tend to take care of my needs.

Mcusta stingray tags along with me for mass. I use it to cut up pastries and sandwiches that the family gets from the church kitchen after mass. No i don't just go to church for the kitchen. okay a lil bit LOL!

God doesn't care a bit what's in your pockets. He cares about what's in your heart. I carry the same thing I'd carry anywhere else- whatever I feel like carrying. I'll certainly have a sweet little slip joint with me, and at least one one-hander. (lately it's been a cqc10 carried off side). It's always more than one folder, and it keeps company with my pistol(s). Around here, no one blinks an eye at a clipped knife. Almost everyone I know carries a folder, and that includes the women- and why in the world would we leave them at home just because we're going to church? I don't know anyone that considers their knife a weapon, and something that doesn't belong in church. Oh- and my paster is definitely packin', and I'm glad. The more the better.

Back on topic... lately I can't leave this one at home, so it's definitely with me at church. :) :
