black mamba I think it is cocobolo. Not 100% sure. Behind the dirt a grime it does have a slight hint of darkish purple. My eyes might be playing tricks on me though.

Edit: More of a a dark red I think.

decided on a Tortoise Shell Boys Knife for today, I like acrylics

Very attractive James I have a few old knives with genuine tortoiseshell, but I think acrylic is just as attractive

Thanks, Jack, it's our most used paring knife in the kitchen, and my wife doesn't seem to understand carbon steel. She leaves it in all manner of damp or even wet conditions. But it still holds up.
