What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Still can't put this one down, always in my pocket. This is an old knife I know but I wish I could find more info. It's a Hibbard Spencer and Bartlett OVB 2030 jack knife, 3 3/8" long. Great walk and talk, both pulls are a 7. The bone is just mesmerizing. I wish I could view the history of this knife the stories of previous owners, but since it's still new looking it could have been sitting around in a drawer, who knows. Love it though and I'm glad it found it's way to me.

I can see why you like it so much. It's in really nice condition. I have an old Catt and a couple old John Primble's in that type of pattern and size and they are plenty big enough and fit in a watch pocket nicely. H.S. & B. was a big hardware store and like Shapleigh, Belknap Hardware, and other hardware stores, they contracted with quite a few knife factories. Yours kind of favors a Schrade Cut. Co. product, but, maybe not. Like the other hardware stores, sometimes it is easy to know who actually made a particular knife ........ and on others ...... not so much.

Regardless, it's a nice find ! 😍

Spun pins means it is not real old .......... my guess it was made in the 1930's to 1950's. 🤔 H.S.& B. sold the "True Value" name in 1962.
A little more if you like ................ https://www.madeinchicagomuseum.com/single-post/hibbard-spencer-bartlett/
Purty bone too ! 😊

Carrying vintage Craftsman 9549 Utility/Scout knife today. Just finished cleaning/restoring this recent find yesterday. Lot of black rust and pitting on the tools/blade, and the handle material was really oxidized but it cleaned up pretty good.

I think Camillus must have been scraping the bottom of their parts barrel at this point. This side looks like a Buck leftover.

I've been told that just before they went bust in 2007, Camillus made some "parts knives" using up whatever random parts they had left in the warehouse from previous runs. They were pretty desperate at the end.

A few from the last few days when I couldn’t log on.

Those new Portugese Titanium traditional knives are lovely, managed to resist buying one (just). 😁

Nice pics from your trip. Those Portuguese knives are pretty good looking.

The one that started it all. @waynorth 😁

Well how can you not love that one! Piece of history right there.

Here’s what you do. Clean and oil all but one. Maybe one you never use? Let the one be, beer and garlicy pizza sauce, and report back on patinization. Pick a carbon knife, of course.
Too late, but I like the way you think 👍
Reminiscent of Ed's @Modoc ED shed roof experiments :)

Ed’s shed experiment was the first thing Jeff’s post made me think of, but you beat me to it, Mike. 😁

Couple of nice fat spears there, Paul.:thumbsup:

No.7 in the pocket today.

The Goldilocks Opinel size, in my opinion. Not too big, not too small, just right.

Had these two with me the last couple days. This #77 isn’t the best looking GEC out there (the jigging, in particular, leaves something to be desired), but it’s still a great user.
