Oddly enough, I was carrying a brass bolstered Barlow in stag from Trevor Ablett, England today. Didn't much like this at first, strange characteristic of being a devil to open but not much snap. Recently, I've taken to it as I've at last got a howling edge on it and the frequent oiling has mellowed up the opening a good deal.Flush on open and no gaps so it's a credible knife:thumbup:
bdt0307 - I have been searching for the Almar series with the beautiful ivory micarta and would love to have an Eagle. Your friend gave you an outstanding knife.
edited to add...I would estimate it much closer to 30 years old. Bought the single Ivory micarta folding skinner I have back when I was 16 and that was 32 years ago.
This one - or one just like it I mean.

Micarta? Or wood? They are two different materials...sure, it is a spanish Miguel Nieto brand. Micarta wood handle and 420 steel blade.

I still don't understand... Do you mean laminated wood? Micarta is typically made of layers of cloth or paper, impregnated with a polymer resin. I've never heard of Micarta made from wood... Can anyone more informed clear it up?
