What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Got this one late today - wish the lighting was better (I'll try to do better justice to it tomorrow), but here's a pic of this integral damascus Bird & Trout from the newly minted Master Smith, Haley DesRosiers:

I agree Ron, Paul is a awesome person and this one will get used joyously.
Lovely blue jigged on that Case, always nice to pull out an old friend that hasn't been in the rotation for a bit.

Thanks Tim :)

Love ole blue, Ron! Looks like a dandy.

Gev - Thank you my friend :D

I like the look of your Office Knife, GT, and it's a Keen Kutter....
Thanks, Dean. :)

The knife on the left is an Ulster Knife Co. gents utility knife. ...
Gary
The "comfort" knife is a Schrade Walden stockman and one I am in love with cause it just makes me feel like I'm coming home to family
...
Thanks for the helpful identifications, Gev. Many of your knives seem to give me "a peaceful, easy feeling" (thanks, Eagles ;)).

...
GT On the opposite end in terms of contours, your smooth Horn Joker is always a treat to see.

Neither Stag nor Horn for me today but timber. Queen Cutlery's Teardrop Linerlock in Zebrawood. I'm lucky enough to have four of these in different scales, once you get the D2 sharp it's such a useful knife.

Regards, Will
Thanks for always admiring my little horn Joker, Will. Now that I have your address, I'm negotiating with my daughter in Madrid to see if she can locate one for you! :D
That Queen zebrawood certainly made fine covers!

Thanks for your kind words GT, I like your carries for the week
...

...
Thanks, Jack. :)
I really like your Queen canoe and OldTimer peanut! (Of course, I've reached the point where I've almost never met a canoe I didn't like!)

Thanks. That buckshot bone looks great.
...
Thanks, Mike.:) It's certainly a unique bone treatment, and I suspect I'll be getting other patterns in Colt's "buckshot bone series" eventually; the one I have is built like a tank, just an incredibly well-made knife (in my kind of naive opinion)!

Today's carry.

Gorgeous shot of your white/black pair, Chris! A "sailor knife" similar to yours is high on my "get it soon" list!

Carrying my Bubinga from Thom (Scruffuk) today

Great knife, Gev. How big is that one? Aitors were on my radar in Spain almost a year ago, but I never picked one up; too many cool knives, too little cold cash! :o

Toting my new Kronos Sm LB for the first time. I had to have one after seeing Lambertina's (Sp?) here on BF.

I am fairly new to the board and I must say there is not a day when I don't marvel at the quality of the photos that are posted. It's given me another hobby trying to bring my pictures up to what I see here. Nice work all!!!
Congrats, HWS, that looks like a fantastic acquisition (and, in my very NON-professional opinion, a striking photo of same)!

It's the 2015 BF knife again for me today.

ri7IDyK.jpg
VERY nice, Dadpool! (Is that book by Edgar Rice Burroughs? There was a time in my life that I read a LOT of Tarzan and increased my vocabulary substantially, but never got into the Mars books.)

The Ettrick again, along with a little mystery knife.

You sure have a lot of cool, interesting, old knives, Rachel!

...
Here's mine today. Old time whittler pattern with an old time pocket calculator.;) They look good together. I'm only carrying the Whittler!
We had to use a slide rule in my science and engineering classes back in the day. The first scientific calculators were out but the slide rule was still required for class work and tests.

http://postimage.org/
Nice Case-Bose, Gary. (Nice shorty Decilon, too.)
...
I have a shorty Pickett N P3
But my K&E Decilon is full size (has 10" scales)

...I remember seeing you post a slide-rule when I first started posting regularly here Frank, and I always associate them with you! :D If you ever need a replacement/spare, I picked one up a few days after seeing that post. I'm not sure what type it is, but the same as my grandfather used to have. I never used one myself - I do however remember logarithm tables!
...
Beautiful whittler, Gary! This talk of slide rules and logarithm tables is almost making me feel young! :D I used slide rules, and tables, all through high school and college, and I bought my first "handheld calculator" after my first year of grad school. $100+ in 1974 for essentially not much more than a 4-function calculator with some statistical capabilities!

Just catching up on this thread after an extended weekend, too many great knives to repost. It was really fun to read this after missing a few days, thank you all for posting!

Gunstock Jack accompanying my old reliable Primble today :).

Always interested to see what scout-type knife you're carrying each day, Tom; the Primble is sure a winner!

There have been some really awesome knives the past few days. I'm carrying these two today.

Nice pairs, Bill! Is the black Alox you frequently carry a Pioneer, and the silver a Farmer? What's the story behind that top peanut? It looks like butterscotch!

...Today I am totin' Ruby Red ...

...
...I was totin one today that I have been neglecting for too long! :D

Absolutely gorgeous red and blue knives, Ron! How about a white bone beauty for the patriotic trifecta?? :p

Still totin' this one, the novelty hasn't worn off yet, (probably never will) Birdseye in a bird's nest. :) The more I take pics of this the more I like the grain.

Marvelous knife, Ted, and astounding photo!:thumbup:

Imperial carry today

That's superb, Dan!!

Totin' this Northwoods Stockman
D2 Steel and Italian Jigged Bone
I'm told no Italians were harmed in the making of this knife ... dunno

:D:D:D All kidding aside, if I wasn't laughing, I'd be crying over the gorgeousity of that stockman, Jim!!!

Canal Street 4" Serpentine Stockman
Mike, you had me going there for a minute as I was scrolling way too fast trying to catch up to everyone's splendid carries. I thought you had done a MAJOR mod to a 2015 Forum knife!! Looks GREAT, by the way!

I have little confession (lol), I haven't paid attention to this thread due to lack of spare time, recently I started to give a quick look here and there, and the thread just got me. such great looking knives guys, and photographic skills. Just WOW. Now I need to find me some time to take photos and participate. Anyway thanks all for sharing and keep them coming :D
Mike
That's my story, too, Mike! :o I used to have plenty of time to look and learn here on The Porch when I ignored this thread. But somehow I peeked into this thread, and my day has suddenly become shorter!!

WOW!!

Went for something classy today!
You nailed "classy", Ernie! That stag shadow sleeveboard is definitely elegant; what knife is it??

So these two arrived today and were dropped in my pocket, the 73 and .999 1/4oz round were a surprise from Paulhilborn
Thank you my friend for your generosity and heartfelt gesture. Everything will be carried and well loved. A coincidence since BigBiscuit/Bob and I were just talking about how the 71 and 73 pattern are the exact same knife in dimensions save for the hump and blade shapes.

tumblr_nzewcmKhDW1rzq6m9o3_1280.jpg

...
That's a terrific 73 and some terrific friends you've got there, Tim!!

Looks like you had a fun outing Ben, great pics .

Lloyd Lanny's Clip and a harvester for me today.

You don't even need OJ for breakfast with that pair, Tom; vitamin C in your pockets!! ;)

Thanks so much! It is a swell end jack and in this case it has some embellishment on the top bolster and one could call it a crown jack, although usually the crown is more ornate in older patterns. I welcome any thoughts on that from the masters
I'm no master, but here are my thoughts (more like gut reactions). The shape! The shield! The bone! The bolster! The Bomb!!! Fabulous knife and photo, Gev!

Man, Gus, that is SO old-school lovely!

This one is speaking to me so much more since I put a satin finish on the bolsters. Thanks for the rust eraser tip Primble!
Nice shot, Sean! You have some very effective backgrounds in your indoor shots; I'm trying to "go to school on you" to help my winter photography!

Here are some of the knives I'll have on my person this week.
Non-SAK with Bail this week is a Boker USA 9229 electrician:

My obligatory Spanish knife for the week is a Tarmundi purchased from Señor Rafael in Sevilla:

Thanks, GT. You've got a few, yourself. Nice Tarmundi  Is that thuya wood?
And I, too, read a lot of Tarzan books when I was younger, but never got into the other Burroughs series. Do you like Kipling? :D

It is! The first three, in fact. I've got some Tarzan and Pellucidar on my shelf, waiting for their turn in the sun, but thus far the Mars books are the only Burroughs I've read.

So many great pictures in the last couple of days, but this takes the cake for me. What a perfect Lanny's Clip -- easily one of the nicest examples I've seen.

Lol, thanks GT, that cracked me up :). Nice Green on your Farmer, very festive and a fantastic pic .

Edit: Hey, 2K ............ Time for a give-away! (Sorry for the bad rhyme :D)

Thanks GT! The black one is a Pioneer and the silver is a Farmer. I'm not sure what the color is called but now that you mention it butterscotch is fitting. It's a mid-90's Case. The shield is what got me. I've not seen that on a Case before.

Thanks, Rachel. :) The handle of the Taramundi is scorched boxwood, which I'm quite sure is really cheap, but I sure like its looks!
I haven't read much Kipling, and that was LOOONG ago. I think we had to read "Rikki Tikki Tavi" in school (middle school??), and I think I read most of The Jungle Book at some point. There was some haunting short story I read as a pre-teen, and all I remember about it is the disturbed feeling it left me with, and it had something to do with galley ships and slaves. As an adult, I've never been able to relocate it; I thought it might have been Kipling, and he has a poem about a galley slave, but that's not what I read. EDIT: OK, maybe I've never looked for the story since Al Gore invented the internet. I don't have very impressive Google skills, but it didn't take me too long to find the story I remembered, and it's "The Finest Story in the World" by Kipling!!

Holy multi quote batman! Thanks for the compliment. I find the secret is a steady camera (phone). I rest mine atop my water bottle (a keen kanteen), which puts it at a nice height and tips it slightly up.

This thread has been busy! :)

Went for something classy today!

Classy it is Ernie

:)

Beautiful Gev

My mind did not understand the photo for a second...very cool and love the ancient ...but you know that!

Thanks Gev, I usually pass on the old Sheffield cutlery I pick up, but decided to keep these humble tea knives. They were made by Tommy Ward's (better known for Wardonia razor blades), where one of my great grandfathers worked before going off to be killed on the Somme.

Thanks, Jack. :)
I really like your Queen canoe and OldTimer peanut! (Of course, I've reached the point where I've almost never met a canoe I didn't like!)

Thanks GT, both were gifts from generous forum members, PMEW and r8shell :) THat's a smashing selection of knives you're carrying this week, the Taramundi is always a treat to see

Carrying two old friends today
