What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

GT, Thanks man. That is Rosewood on the Lambs Foot... wonder what it will look like in 50 years. The plant is a Aloe cactus kinda thing....I think. :D
Stonebeard, That 38 is really really really nice!
I scored this Tommy Lee fixed blade from my good buddy Jon. I thought it paired nicely with the fancy pants Buck Esquire.

Cory, I don't know why I have always pictured you this way, but I've always seen you as a stockman kinda guy. Glad to see that the 49 is working out buddy. Ive enjoyed the pics

Thanks for the words, Brett. I kind of agree that I've always been a stockman kinda guy, I've just never found one that fit quite right. I think I'm finally there. :D

We were camping again this weekend, and I took the 1095 version of the 49 this time. I was worried about the 1095 not holding up as well as the D2, so I put a convex edge on the spey blade and used it for the harsher tasks. It worked like a treat. I'm really starting to see the benefits to having three different blades. I spent another weekend in the woods with only one folding knife on me, and I have to say that I like it quite a bit.

Cory, that's a really great idea! I'm going to try that out myself. It also looks great in your pic.

Thanks for all the kind words GT, that's a great-looking Swayback

Very tasty :)

I think it's been a few weeks straight now for this one...many jealous knives sleep in the case.

LOL! :D Great stuff Jake

Looks like a good weekend kit, Jack!

Thanks my friend, that's a lot of Barlow goodness

I am most certainly glad for the new carrier pigeons! It wold be impossible to do anything else other than enjoy this wonderful piece of pocket cutlery. Thanks again, my friend!

You're very welcome, I hope it's a good user :)

My baby girl isn't feeling well today and had an unplanned trip to the doctor. Like most days, I'm carrying "her" Peanut, a Bermuda Green Pocket Worn that I bought the day before she was born.

Hope she's OK, cool pic :)

While Nancy was at a shower for our newest coming Great Grandchild , I was able to find this Old Catt #22379 .
Has good walk & talk , solid , shield , and ghosts of Indian Trails

Nice find Harry, and congratulations :) Nice pocketful of stag too ;)

That's a beauty Brett, and nicely captured

A classic Randy

Always love seeing those Boker Barlows

Nice score on that Tommy Lee, a very spiffy pair :)

After a rather mixed weekend, it was a great surprise to get a phonecall from Charlie C yesterday, and a real treat to have a chat to him :) In honour of the great man, I'm carrying my first TC Barlow today, a gift from Charlie himself :)

Also, my Abbeydale Jack

Jack, nice to read our fellow members reaching out in such a way.

I hope you have a good day with such a handsome pairing.

I was hoping to be carrying a new acquisition today, an S&M just received after a month long wait from the US.
Sadly I haven't found it to be worth the wait. :(

Great pictures everyone! Hope Monday is kind to you.
I spent the weekend setting up stands, trimming branches, and falling out of trees in anticipation of the coming Whitetail Deer bow season! My Hess Tiburon performed flawlessly, removing many branches over an inch thick in a single swipe. The Scout tagged along.

And we got some pictures of him:

That looks interesting, tell us more please :)

It's the queue de poisson Jolipapa sent me some time ago. Made by Massoptier pere in the 1960s or 70s. (Massoptier fils makes mid-range Laguiole types now). (apologies to the francophones world for my French.)
It's a Breton pattern, and actually a women's kitchen garden knife. I'm going to have to get another in case the last firm making them decides to stop.

^^ Very nice.

Its a treat to see some of the many different European patterns.

There are so many of them, not just in France, but they seem to get little recognition on here.

What was it Scruff? - just so I don't make the same mistake...

Super thin Diamond Edge advertising knife today! I just pinned this one back together, I had to take it apart to clean out some heavy corrosion and gunk.

Flatblackcapo, that Buck Esquire is something else! I really like the bolster work.

I'm starting to care less and less about the looks I get on this construction site as I take my dorky knife pictures. This "river" of water was created by a laborer shovelling water about 6 feet away from me. He stopped when I tried to take the picture again with another knife. :o

Happy Monday, everyone!

Thanks a lot Thom :) Having seen the pics of your knife, I'm not surprised you're not happy! How on earth did that get shipped, you'd have to be blind not to see the faults? :thumbdn:

A great set of pics Macchina, and that looks like a fantastic wilderness combination

LOL! I think we've all had those looks from time to time! :D Great pic

Some nice knives and pics being posted!

My wife and I returned home last night from a family wedding in Clarion, PA. Our route home took us through the Allegheny National Forest and up along a couple of the Finger Lakes on the way home to Syracuse. I noticed that we'd be passing right through Bradford, PA and that the Zippo Case Museum is open on Sundays from 11 to 4. We just "happened" to be passing through at 2pm.....

I'm going to try and post some pics of the museum and store in the lounge later today.

Anyway, I've wanted to pick up a Teardrop Jack for awhile now and I had the chance to buy one at the Museum store (I was tempted by soooo many other knives!). This is a great little knife. Nice and tight, probably a 5 on our opening scale. Fit and finish is excellent. AND for all you carbon steel fans, this one is CV! Came hair popping sharp too. I'll have it with me for at least a couple of days.
A few pics..

Maybe if GEC starts making them.

I particularly like the fishtail, even if it is a girl's knife. It has almost 3.25" of blade in a 3.5" handle.

I have a bucket full of sandvick saw blades I mean to try to make into some of the regional friction folder shapes. (I'm sure they'll at least look like they were meant to be knives.)

And thanks, Jack.

.

I love that southern route. I'm always reminded of "Last of the Mohicans", and reflect on how happy I am not to have to chase or flee anybody up and down those hills.

Very nice teardrop. I'd had the notion they were all spear-points.

Nice Teardrop Gary, look forward to seeing more of that one, as well as the museum pics
