What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Now that's a beautiful combo.

I'm scraping by with the new Boker camp knife today.

Half/Stop, tough one last night for the Preds, and on home turf too. But as we were fond of saying of the Chicago Cubs back in the day, there's always next year! (Often began that mantra about 5 games into the season :p.)

Back with my big blue Barlow from NW today. Its one downside is it's pull: it takes an authoritative action to avoid getting stuck halfway and looking like a dweeb, and hope your fingers aren't wet. I'm loath to try relieving the backspring however.

Tom, It's rough on an old man to stay up late like that, especially with the eventual outcome such as it was! :( I still enjoyed watching the playoffs! Don't be shy with that big Blue Barlow! I didn't really think about it this morning when I pocketed my NF Barlow, but I guess you could say it was Micarta Monday for me! :D

Tom, I think the experiment is successful; both photos look great to me! You're turning into quite the knife scientist lately, with your trial of a new sharpening method and your light tent experiment! Can we expect to see a photo of the light tent, or is that too self-referential??;) What are the pros and cons of your light set-up as you currently see them?

Bailed non-SAK of the Week is my Colonial Forest-Master (ca 1960):

Thanks GT! I'd be a little embarrassed to share pics of the light tent, as it is a rather plebeian effort. It consists entirely of a cardboard box, paper towels, and a $5 LED light :).

Not a lot of cons, it took maybe 5 minutes to make it. Pros: softens the light so no harsh glare, it is repeatable, negates any reflections you don't want, and I think it will be fun to experiment with different materials to place under the knives. Send me a PM (or anyone else) if you're interested and I'll get some photos for you.

Great Colonial

"Scraping" by in HIGH style Buzz, gorgeous scout

Fantastic Tom

It's 91 outside and since I don't have to go anywhere, I'm not. AC is on, ceiling fans are running and I'm hanging out in my cave with my Trapper in my pocket.
Stay cool folks!

Good stuff Gary, hope you had a good day with your Trapper :)

Jack, tasty and healthy, but today it's only half of that equation, fried chicken for lunch.:D

:D

Jack & Tom & Dan & Ron, thanks for the kind words/puns ;) about the photo of my Buck toothpick. That's an old pic taken on vacation last summer at the Lower Falls on the Tahquamenon River in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Looking forward to heading up to that area again in less then 2 months!

...

I, too, thought duck-lipped selfies were silly, since I have little use for "fads" that have no rationale. But while Skypeing with my daughter in Spain yesterday, I asked her why everyone did such a silly thing, and she demonstrated how that pose "accentuates and improves" one's cheekbones!:rolleyes::p So I guess I'm OK with it after all, since there's a good reason for doing it! ;)

I'm really enjoying your recent lambsfoot and pen knife series, Jack!!:thumbsup::cool:

A little cornhole w/ my sister and brother in law at the Sierra Nevada brewery in Mills River, NC. She beat me bad.

I got a bad nip myself last week, made taking photos awkward! Beautiful knife, and that sounds like a great day out Brett

I always love that Arthur Wright, Jack. Never tire of seeing it. MJ.

Jack, she certainly hustled me that is for sure. It was a great time though.

Wish I could figure out how to attach a pic to a video thumbnail link instead of this boring grey and 3 dots....

It's a video link, something we can now do using the media option here on the forum. Id love to see your trips in video. There has to be a way of attaching a pic to the link though, just havent figured it out. (The video option would certainly bring the 'mugshot' and 'did you knife get a workout' thread to life. :)

I always forget to use the video option on my camera, but will try and remember in future. It'd cane the battery, but would be good for short visits, such as the one I made to a working water wheel and former cutlery hull on Sunday

so, one of the practical upsides to posting in this thread is that when you lose a knife, you have a record of the last time you carried it. I know I had my cat on Friday after work.
