What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Gorgeous stag trapper, Ratbert Ratbert !:thumbsup::cool:

Thank you for the kind words, Gary. That RR Trapper of yours is not too shabby either! Wonderful jigged bone with great color!

Striking red/black combo, Ron!!:cool::cool::thumbsup: Those Presidentials always grad my attention, and your red jigged bone version is exquisite!

Thanks Gary! The Presidential is very classy knife and the Red Jigged Bone shows just how skilled the cutlers at Great Eastern are. :) I always enjoy seeing that beautiful Horn on your Joker. Just imagine how Horn like that would look on a Lambsfoot. ;) Your RR Half Whittler has sparked my interest. It appears to be a single spring design. I am going on line to check the specs on RR531. :D

Interesting pair, Jack Black Jack Black !:thumbsup::cool: Please let us hear what you think of that friction folder.

...

:D:D Thanks for the Half Hawk homage, Jack. :)

Thanks GT, the Capucin is a bit large for regular carry, so I can't see me pocketing it much. I prefer the Svord Peasant, even though the Capucin is a nicer-looking knife.

Always a treat to see your gorgeous Joker

Thanks my friend, yes olive wood. I don't mind friction folders, but the Capucin is a bit on the large size

I improved the carrying comfort on mine by making a leather pouch that covers the tang. The opening is large enough to grasp the tang and pull the knife. The pouch can also be hung from a cord attached to belt inside pocket so the weight of the knife is unnoticeable.

Nice work Mr Finn, and thanks for the tip :) How do you find the steel?

The steel is a bit on the soft side but easy to sharpen. I have used the Capucin only on foodstuffs so far. One thing I don't like is the opening in the blade, it gathers food and crud.

I have also a friction folder from Bastinelli and the steel is much better, but it is not suitable for showing on trad forum (I think).

Thanks for the info :) Yes, I dislike the hole in the blade too, it doesn't seem to serve any purpose other than collecting crud. I have a few other friction folders, there used to be quite a few posted here at one time

It would make a nice project to make a good wooden handle to a Sword friction folder. If I had the time I would do it. It is not too difficult with the tools I have (drill, Dremel etc.).

Edit: yes there is a wood handle Sword friction folder. It just needs in my opinion a backspacer.

Canoe of the Week is a RR faux tortoise shell model:

Thanks 5K. The shrine is visited often and by many. Faux or not those tortoise shell covers have great colouring to them

It’s been well over a hundred pages since I last visited the daily thread.

Can I ask what the middle knife is?
