When it's not exactly Made in the USA - Hoback

Do you think a company wouldn't be checking to make sure its products were accurately represented by the dealers it's chosen to work with?

Really?! LOL
Your problem is that you hold the manufacturer responsible for what dealers put on THEIR website.

I don't think anybody cares about where the washers, pivots, screws, etc are made. At least not from what I'm reading. Maybe I'm wrong about that.
Not wrong. The issue was the ambiguity of what was being made overseas, which is why we wanted clarity. Had dude come out and said my screws are made in China, literally no one cares lol

Not quite no evidence, 3D Anvil 3D Anvil

That other maker I referred to earlier, that is no longer a member here, used to remove, (buff out), the "China" mark on the blades he imported from Guangdong, before selling them as his own handmade customs. And yes, Customs would seize such goods without the proper mark. Others would remove adhesive labels after receipt, to disguise origin.

When I worked as a special agent in Miami I was called in by inspectors who had seized container loads of Chinese goods, (knives, including switchblades), which were in contravention of customs regulations.

(Not a matter for the unit I worked within, but as a knife guy, they called me down for consultation. The "fraud" group handled those sorts of cases.)

Hoback admitted that (at least some of his) knives were manufactured overseas. Why would they not be marked as such? Don't tell me that's just another simple oversight?
No disrespect, but what some other knife maker did years ago has no bearing on this Hoback situation.

Why is it relevant? Is the government supplying all their contractors with Hoback knives?
You’re making a distinction because it isn’t in your favor not to do it. The concept is simple: If the government considers it “made in USA”, is it not reasonable to consider it “made in USA”?

I was just checking some of my knives that I know are made in China. The Quiet Carry Drift does not say it's made in China. The Pena Zulu does not say it's made in China. The Giant Mouse Riv does not say it's made in China. The WE Esprit does not say it's made in China. None of them are marked with any COA. Ditto for Kizer and Sharp by Design.
Do the boxes they came in not have any markings? The end user is supposed to, by law, know what the origin of the product is.

Except for it being the exact same thing where Hoback is comfortably selling knives that he's allowing the dealers he's entered into a contract with to sell his products, to inaccurately describe their point of origin.

If they stood by and knowingly let them be sold as made in America, yes. Have they?
Again, I have no idea. Nor do you, with respect to Hoback. All we know is that some dealers misrepresented the COA of the knives, Hoback claims he tried to get some of them to fix the error, and he says they didn't, but he could have tried harder.

It's also slightly strange to automatically assume every company uses foreign screws. The US has nearly as much market share in the iron fasteners market as China (though both are far behind Germany) it's not unreasonable to use American made screws.

It's good to have self-respect, I agree.
