When it's not exactly Made in the USA - Hoback

I’m well aware this is a profitability issue on sale price impact, or sales. I’m clearly taking issue with people that think the knives are garbage all of the sudden because they were made in a country they don’t like. That’s not even remotely accurate. I’ll just ignore the blatant irony in your last sentence.

To a vendor who purchased them before this scandal was revealed, they are garbage. That they're knives is irrelevant, their value has been halved by the deceptive, fraudulent practices of the company that sells them.

You replied to my comment made to 3D Anvil, not you, simply to contradict me. And now you're backtracking. First you say it's not a problem, now you're saying it's a profitability issue on sale price impact or sales. So which is it? Is it a problem or is it not a problem? You singled me out and claimed I said things that I didn't. You're so hell-bent on contradicting me that you're willing to contradict yourself just to do so.

I'm not arguing against you because you're you, I'm arguing against you because you're wrong. If there's any irony here it's that you assume that others choose their fights the same way you do - because you don't like them.

You're being almost unbelievably blatantly transparent in your trolling attempts. Almost unbelievable, except we've seen this pattern of behavior from you so many times before that it's expected from you. If I'm singling you out here, it's only to further illustrate that your position isn't one of logic, ethics, or accountability, but merely one of kneejerking contradictory trolling and should be dismissed by anyone reading it who hasn't already seen through your transparent bluster.

I will say, there were certainly a cadre of hardcore "I'll keep buying your knives no matter WHERE they're made, Jake!" fanbags swimming around in Jake's IG comments last night, perhaps they'll be up for paying six hundred* plus dollars for the possible Chinese-made Hobacks** still in stock.

* I'm sorry, that is obscene.

** At this point, more like "Probably gonna GoBack for a vendor refund" amirite?

Soooo anything related to the topic you care to discuss? Or just venting?

I'm not gonna do a bunch of back and forth there - and its up to you if you feel I am being genuine - but we are genuinely upset about what happened, I was excited about the hoback brand, I put a lot of time and effort into it personally, this situation feels like having the rug pulled out from under us. I am not trying to market - I do not expect this to help us at all.

This is what we did/are doing - we cancelled all open purchase orders.
Keep doing dope-ass Medford drops though. I love y'alls partnership. Just picked up flamed/bronze #3 s90v slim midi this morning.

It doesn't matter if it's better or not. It's not what the buyer thought he or she was buying. And that is the crux of the problem...in tandem with the price point which is out of line under the circumstances.
I agree with that. Was just adding a little humor with the Reate remark.

I think Hoback should consider discounting the ones made in China, if he tracked them by serial #, and credit dealers. That’s one solution.

yup, that's the whole thing- it's preventable.

Regardless of whether or not you have to, just share the mundane facts about your product!
You don't have to go sharing company secrets that give you a business edge, but come on...
It's so stupid, the guy messed up, he knew he messed up, and he didn't do anything about it until it was too late.
I agree, and he should have kept after the retailers until they made the change, and he should have removed them as authorized dealers if they refused.

But it was the retailers who caused the problem to begin with and it's ridiculous that they refuse to accept any blame.

False. Again with the "being intentionally dense" gameplan, eh?

At this point, I no longer take him at his word in attempting to blame someone else for his failures, so you’ll pardon me if I don’t really put much credence in his “Well I tried to tell them!” story. Here’s a question for you, why didn’t he think to take some action to make that dealer comply? Withhold orders? Have a lawyer call them? Anything?

Ohhhhh, right. Because he knows that people will pay more for a US made knife than a Chinese one.
This may have already been stated, but look how quickly he was able to spread his message in an IG Reel/Story post. Imagine if he "aggressively pursued" correcting his dealer network using this method years ago.

Honestly I feel like you guys (who like Hobacks) should have picked up on how much milling there is on that beasty, between that and the popping anodization it SCREAMS that it's made by one of the smaller and less established high end makers, like Rike.
Don’t get it twisted. Disagreeing with the volume of animosity is not an endorsement for Hoback. “You’re either with us or you’re against us” is no way to be.

Hey, 3D Anvil 3D Anvil , see this? Chuck's just joining us, and golly gee, he figured it out in like two seconds flat.

Ok so, since he already said some knives are made overseas while the same knives are also made here, how do I know, on my two Radfords, WTF "USA/China" actually means?
Just assume the worst, man. You'll never know for sure. Either keep enjoying them or sell them at what I'm sure will be a loss. Sucks, I know, but it is what it is.
