I could understand if we were consistent with one thing or another, but we aren't. GD will have a thread complaining about Emerson enforcing his patent at the same time someone is getting pissed about an SRM knife that isn't even one of the "copies".

Why all the excitement about a $6 knife company while Microtech is cool? How about United Cutlery CS rip offs on One Stop Knife?

I get your outrage, but why are you so fickle about it?

Because different people start different discussions, there's no forum-wide standard like you think there is.

Mchenry & Williams owns it. I also don't think rx has his ducks in a row about when it expires. I got in a big argument with returning troll Boris about ganzo and the whole patent thing. I think they will have the patent for the foreseeable future, read good patent lawyers.

Patents can't be renewed. Feel free to look it up. This fact has driven industry since the first patent was granted.

Exactly. Where did this idea come from that if you care about one counterfeit issue you need to be an expert on planes, trains, and automobiles.

I already have. Why don't you look into the axis lock patent. Give it more attention than you gave ganzo calling their counterfeit of the axis lock an axis lock.

You are really throwing a lot of different issues into the same basket and making up "facts" to suit your needs....

My favourites so far where not understanding patent expiry, non-patented items, and throwing pharma into this same category.....

I could sit here and explain why you are wrong, but I have learned that some people just don't get it, and they aren't gonna get regardless of facts or anything.

The only way they ever get it is when it kicks them in the a$$.

Maybe you should start by asking some of the manufactures/makers on this forum why they have an issue with "homage" Chinese knives and how it impacts their business?

Start there, and then come back with something that resembles a fact....

The problem, as it relates to the OP, is that so many more members AND mods care about $6 Chinese knives than large, high end companies and profitable sponsor brands that it makes us all appear to be elitists that don't actually care about property rights at all, but care about shaming inexpensive knife owners.

I would love to see you do your pit bull act on a sponsor that sells united CS copies.

If only I had a quarter for everyone like you that stops by, implies that I'm wrong, then promptly refuses to actually back their claims up.

Ka-ching.

What exactly is my pittbull act?

No at all.
No one here that I know of has issues with people buying cheap knives.
Hell, my brother got us both huge fixed blades for $16 each the last time we went out to the woods, and no one looked down on me when I posted pics of the excursion. :)

The thing is that there are so many original designs (as well as unarguably public domain) that are cheap, that there is zero need for buying counterfeits, whether they technically break the law or not.

Whenever someone posts a thread about their inexpensive (but original design) knife, people are almost universally supportive.
There will be talk of being smart enough to get good value for their cash.
Others will want to know where to get one themselves.
Sure you might get one or two grouches, but the overwhelming number of people will be positive.

You might have enough to purchase the $10 basic membership and actually support the forums you use so frequently.

But patents can be extended for a couple of reasons and the initial patent expiration date may not be the actual expiration date.

A simple Google search turns up the patent, use it as you will
All I had was a mild curiosity. But not enough to even do a Google search.

Thank you Craytab for the info. I thought it was Mchenry and Williams, but I couldn't remember exactly.

Oh, and for the record, I own several Ganzo switchblades. And while I don't agree with everything Ganzo does, I didn't let that stop me from buying the knives I wanted. Heck, I don't agree with everything the Walmart corporation does, but I still shop at Walmart.

I can't talk about a lot of this because it's "political" but includes this subject. As far as "having a quarter" goes, you aren't gonna have a quarter anyway if things keep going the way they are....

I stopped by to give you some advice;

Take my advice, talk to the people this effects, get their input, and maybe learn something instead of spewing your own misconstrued ideals as fact.

I know you won't take it though, you are obviously convinced that you already know, and that's what's so sad about your rant.....

That's 50 cents.

That's where we differ I guess.

I'm not too lazy to spend 20 seconds using Google, you are.

If I disagree with a company's policies, I don't give them money. Haven't been in a Wal-Mart since I've been old enough to make my own shopping decisions, nor have I bought a Ganzo, Sanrenmu, United Cutlery, Mtech, or Fury knife in my life.

I let my money speak for my values, I wish more people would do the same.

This sucks to read....

You're going to look back at that attitude in a few years and realize that you should have cared.

Sorry, getting off topic, but I don't even really know what the topic is anymore...

When I was a small child I enjoyed spinning around in circles.

But in the end, all I was left with was a headache and the desire to vomit.

:D

This post is not directed at anyone in particular, and I'm not suggesting that this discussion should stop or that people shouldn't feel free to express any opinion they want (I'm a big proponent of such expression), my only point is- I think this discussion/debate/thread could go on for another ten pages with no more of a concensus or agreement then there is right now.

But it is kinda fun (til the spinning stops).

I wonder where the OP is? See what you went and started. :D

This attitude will change everything.

If you can't see the problem, then you are blind. You obviously are not.

Unfortunately you are a minority sir, thanks though, really needed to read something positive today.....
