ZDP-189 Lum Chinese folder.

Would bright colors be more in line with Chinese popular art? I wouldn't quibble about the color, but I'd like something at least as eye-catching as the maroon Caly Jr.

And I would prefer a lockback to the original liner lock. FRN or Micarta scales, lockback ... that could bring down the price.
Esav- you are a genius.

Ditto all these guys. I would go for a titanium handled lockback in brushed satin gray finish with a black etched spyder logo with webbing across the back of the handle. Jayzus, can't you see it!

Great idea! My preferences, laminated blade, to simulate the hamon. And I'd like the handle to be purple, but any other color won't stop me from ordering one.

I was thinking about my new Chinese Folder for 2006, I know Spyderco will make it, and I was wondering if the lamination line could be made wavy, instead of a straight line, make it wavy. Just an idea. :)

Just ask NGK for one with a wavy lamination line.
The Calys were definitely not all straight: I got a wavy one without even asking for it. ;) :D

I like orange G10 with black blade (DLC or AlTiN).

What about other ZDPs - ZDP4?

Thanks, Vassili.

I want a wavy line like the "Kris" blade. :)

Did not think of the lock type. If I had the choice I would go with a normal lockback over the liner lock.

No offense guys, but we should let Sal think about this and let him decide the best and easiest one to to make without retooling. "Too many cooks spoil the broth". ;)

Given the price range that this knife's would come in at, I've been wondering if it should be done as a certified Limited Edition, rather than a sprint run. Say, 600 pieces only?

I think only 600 gunmetal blue Lums were released in the US, and it still took a while for them to sell. A laminated ZDP Lum with HA-III (the poll result) will list for a good bit more than the VG-10 models. A typical 1200 piece sprint might be too big. Thoughts?

I hope everybody who posted for this knife gets one!!!! :(
I'll bet Sal wishes the same. Unfortunately, that is a lil optomistic based on prior mouth to wallet performance on special interest model variants. On the plus side is the proven interest and 'put-up-shut-up' shown for the Calypso Jr in this steel. I'd judge this a good candidate for 600 pieces.

I suppose. Still a second run could be done should expectations be more than achieved!
