ZDP-189 Lum Chinese folder.

I would buy two PE, regardless of handle type, no questions asked. I just want a Lum Chinese!

id like it to be a lock back with either g-10 scales or FRN handles in burgandy, navy blue or dark green. :)

No. Last I heard was "probably," and Sal had talked to Bob Lum, and he was going to talk to him again to work out details. I haven't heard anything since. They are probably still working on their sprint run production list for 2006, so final word probably won't come until that is finalized and the actual order to manufacture the run has been placed with vendors.

bump up....worth the attention.

btw Carlos, so did the vote go to HA coloured scales, thick liners / framelock and ZDP189 with the hardening line?

The vote went, natural HA-III and ATS-34/ZDP-189 laminate. Personally I would call it an opinion poll rather than a vote, and I submitted all of the results - not just a 'winning' combo. Final format is up to Bob Lum, and he may choose a different color for the handle.

Sal is out of town and has been for awhile. Hopefully when he gets back we'll hear something definitive on if this will happen, and how.

This knife has a fanatical following. Why not just make it a regular Spyderco line, like the Delica or Military? If not, how do I get in line to get one?

Spyderco already has a ZDP189 Delica on the way sometime in the first half of 2006.

I was talking about making the Chinese Folder a regular line. I already knew about the Delica. I'm saying I'd like the Chinese to be a regular production model, but if Spyderco won't do that, how would I get on the list to get one of the ZDP Chinese?

I think it workslike this:

Spydercop annouces a run and how many. Dealers decide how many they want to order, they then open preorder up to customers. You just need to pay attention and contact your favorite dealer once the annoucement is made.

I owned a grey/blue Lum Chinese. I hope that this time the interior handle edges are finished a little more (mine where sharp) and that a different lock is used then the reltively thin liner it tended to move alot and be finicky about adjustment.

Sal? 2006? WE (I) love this knife. I had a VG-10 green handle plain edge and I let it get away. This knife would mean a second chance for me, I don't know what it would mean for someone else, but I NEED A SECOND CHANCE.
"everyone deserves a second chance"

I would definitely buy this knife, no matter what color they go with. That being said, I like the HAIII the best.

spyken, the line that you see on ZDP is a lamination line, not a hardening line. I don't think anyone differentially heat treats or differentially tempers ZDP.

:o .....I meant lamination line <doh>...hehe...

yeah, I like HAIII, framelock and ZDP189 with the lamination line too!!! and and a gold bug. but I find the gold bugs come off way easily...I tried to clean my ocelot with acetone to remove the sticky residue from cutting tape, and the gold bug transformed into a black bug :p
