ZDP-189 Lum Chinese folder.

At the price point that this Lum would list at, I don't think that there will be any problems getting one if there are only 600 made. 300 would be tight. 600 is ample IMO. My concern is Spyderco making too many and getting stuck with a huge quantity of extra stock. Thus, I say make it an official Limited Edition, and make a little less than the market will absorb.

If I recall correctly, the original list was $179.99, with VG-10 and green almite. ZDP-189 laminate is something like a $30 list premium over VG-10, so I'd imagine anywhere between $200 and $220 list. This is a rough guess, not an insider estimate.

I'm in for one of these, regardless of color or handle material.
I believe 600 would be easily sold and not be too difficult to come by.
If fact, I'm sure that 600 piece runs of several discontinued models would
sell reliably. (Terzuola models, Lum folding tanto)

Anyone see the pic of Bob Lum's all steel Chinese Folder in December Blade by GaryCapraro. Just makes me want a ZDP-189 folder that much more!

Sal, PAAALLLEEEAAASSSEEE ! I for one Knife-Knut am begging for this knife.

(was that too much?) :D

in whatever form they bring this back 2-3 will be bought..on top 3 list..just responded to the rookie thread..lovin this..they are on top 3 list

Sal, Hows Bob? Hope he's doing well. I know he's getting excited about the NEW Lum Chinese Folder featuring the latest super steel.... ZDP-189! I know I am! 2006 will be a great year for all knife knuts..... ;)

Having just bought the Calypso Jr. in the new ZDP, I'd say go for it in any color, orange micarta would be cool with a bambo pattern on it to stay with the asian theme. Keep the laminations, forget the goldleaf etching unless there's a way of eliminating the wear on the goldleaf inlay (i.e. lacquer or epoxy on top of the inlay). Liner lock is ok, compression lock better. If you haven't tried the zdp you're missing out ... this metal is beyond comparison. This would be a spectacular knife!!! I'm in on this one ... no matter the handle material or color. Sal go fer it man, we're with you!!!! The sooner the better!

Can't let this fall to the bottom of the page. Needs to stay up top so it is easy for Mr. Glessar & Mr. Lum to find.

So when this knife becomes a reality will we get a heads up on this forum? Don't want to miss out.
