Zt 0452cf

I gotta give it up to you guys who went out of your way to get the Russian model!

I gotta say man It was well worth it. Nohing wrong with the 0452cf. But to make one of my famous car comparisons the 0452cf is a base model Vette. No slouch by any means. But this is like a Z06.

Just got mine back from ZT after having to send it in for a small issue. Amazing blade and really carries well for its size.

I couldn't resist and pulled the trigger. Should have it in a few days.

I feel like my 0562CF is my current "most perfect" knife, and the 0452CF should present some stiff competition for pocket time.

Because I'm impatient and excited, I'm wondering if anyone has any pics of what it looks like in-pocket?

I love the deep-carry clip on my 0562CF and the clip on the 0452CF is my only concern...

I don't have any pics as I only had it for a few days but it carries amazingly.

It carries higher than the 0562CF, but the deep carry clip on the 0452CF still keeps the knife pretty deep in pocket and exposes fairly little.

Too many posts to go through as this thread has become very long. But, could someone give me the gist of what the issues are with this knife so far? The tip's too thin? Thank you.

Have a 0452CF coming tomorrow. I ordered from this one shop and they still have them in stock last I checked. Can't wait to get this one, the 0452 is the only recent knife to get me to open my wallet in awhile. :D

Has anyone modded theirs yet?

I've got 2 on the way.
What are some suggested mods?
And what aftermarket pocket clips fit these? I looked around a little but there are not many results for the 0452 yet.
Yeah, I know, newb question, and as sacrilegious as it is, of the thousands of knives I've owned, this is the first ZT. Seriously.

Yup the 0801 fits as Colorodo said. The holes are just a smidge too wide for BM/Emerson clips. Emerson clips happen to be my favorite, so I modded one to fit. A needle file and a time later:

No one has mentioned the tip being too thin. There's really no issues with the knife that have been brought up en mass.

- Strong detent
- In the closed position, some of the blades are too long (by millimeters)
- Conforming your hand so you aren't pressing on the lockbar (all framelocks by design)

IMO this is the best production offering from ZT, along side the 0562.

As much as I love this knife..and did a few things to make the detent less intense and the action smoother...the most recent adjustment I made had, by far, the most positive effect on the knife's action. I disassembled it (again), removed the steel lockbar insert/over travel stop...so I could then "bend out" the lock bar (in careful, tiny, increasing increments until just right). Once I relieved just the right amount of tension (to my liking) through trial and error...WOW...what a pleasure to open now...literally about as smooth as any of my Andre Thorburn knives...which if you've handled one you know they are super smooth with a fairly light/perfect/totally effective detent. It still opens fast and with authority, no blade play or rock lock at all, but now no longer bothers my index finger, even after repeated, repeated, repeated flipping. And the blade doesn't open from the closed position when I try to shake the blade out...and it does suck the blade back in when almost closed, as it should. So the detent is still absolutely doing its job in every respect. -- I loved my 0452cf when I got it, more when I broke it in via most traditional methods...but now...(redundant, sorry) --->WOW! It's now absolutely perfect. I highly recommend, if you feel your detent is stronger than necessary or stronger than you like, reducing lock bar pressure by this method. You do have to be really careful doing this as to not permanently bend too far & really mess things up...but...in my case, this made a HUUUGE positive difference. PS. I was so pleased, I did this with my zt0450 and a Daboia that had a detent much stronger than I like...and got the same fantastic results.

I think the clips that fit a zt0801 may fit.

I'm a fan of Emerson clips as well so I did a little modding. Damned hardened spring steel, man that's some tough stuff.:(
I had to eliminate the third hole though.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Nice! I was thinking about doing the same cut you did to eliminate the middle hole. But then I got some new knives in :p
