Okay gang, we are now closed to additional entries - let the selection of finalists begin!
Once again, a BIG THANK YOU for all the nominations. And a special thanks to those makers who posted up their work. . You should all be proud of your creations. Without you, we'd have nothing to talk about here.
This is a spectacular assembly of knives by any measure, and no doubt the decisions will be tough. Each year, this thread is what you make it - and once again, you all have made it pretty great.
The fun continues with what usually proves to be the hardest and most interesting part - narrowing it down to five finalists. The procedure will be the same as before:
1) Each member may submit up to 7 suggested finalists. You don't have to submit as many as 7, but don't submit any more than 7. I think we can all agree that there is more than one knife on these pages that deserved a nod? Please take your time to carefully review all the knives.
2) Please include the post number where your selected knife can be found, and the number of the knife within that post if more than one knife is presented therein - this will help clear up any uncertainty in the case where there are multiple knives by a given maker among the initial entries. For example - a say post number 30 has 4 knives. You want the third. Put "Post 30, #3". AND DON'T FORGET TO INCLUDE THE NAME OF THE MAKER!
3) Your order or selection doesn't matter - one vote per knife up to seven, each vote counts.
4) Please try to include a few words about what appeals to you about any given selection. THIS is what makes the selection process most interesting.
5) When all votes are in, we add up the numbers (each time a knife is put forward by someone as a finalist, that effectively counts as one vote for that knife) and the top 5 will be voted on by polll in a new thread.
PS - If anything is unclear, please ask early.

I'll post up a a few of my selections just to get the ball rolling and then round them out. Have at it gents!
Post 1, knife 1 - CAS / Lurquin Best of Show. Certainly outside of the traditional bowie aesthetic and easily not only one of the more visually arresting knives I have seen all year, but one of the most striking I have seen ever. There is a lot happening in this piece, and everything comes together so amazingly well. It both surprises and impresses me that piece with such cohesive visual drama could have been conceived and executed by more than one creative source. Hats off, gents.
Post 1, knife 3 - Wess Barnhill Ironwood Bowie. This is EXACTLY the kind of knife that got me into bowies in the first place. Clean and elegant with minimal adornment - and the kind of fit and finish that just screams quality.
Post 1, knife 8 - Quesenberry Dogbone. I'll admit - I'm a complete sucker for this style of bowie - the ultimate "gentleman's sidearm". With the gold buttons and escutcheon, this one is fit for royalty.
Post 11, Knife 2 - Kevin Klein Mediterranean Bowie. Very much blown away by this unique take on the genre. Carved and wrapped wooden handle with damascus scales? Wow. And then to replicate that work with such precision over 4 pieces! The first time I saw Coop's group shot I though it was a camera trick - only the varying damascus patterns give it away. Well done!
Post 18, knife 1. - D. Franco Massive D Guard. Just completely won over by the impressive dimensions coupled with great lines and proportions and topped with stunning damascus. I want this knife. Badly.
Post 68, knife 1 - Jean-Louis Regel Wootz Bowie. The lines. The proportions. Did I mention the lines? So crisp. So spot on. A true gentleman's bowie.
Post 83, Knife 1 - Mike Bartlett Takedown Bowie. This knife appealed to me even before I saw the insane explosion shot of the takedown construction, but that is what put me over the edge.
