Beware of nirvanero

Apologies to you for the initial doubts. Looks like there is a pattern here. :( Best wishes for some positive resolution in your favor.

You don't have to apologize. If I were you sure I had doubts as well. A newbie, european newbie, vs a gold member with no negative feedback is hard to believe at first sight. But I was confident as "a liar gets caught before a cripple", or however you say it... :)

Geeze, there are some people here that act like they are dealing on some fly by night auction site.

This is BFC and the expectation is that all deals will be honest, above board, conducted with integrity, credibility and care.....and nothing less!!!

If you cannot deal on the complete up and up do your dealings on www.scumbagknifetrader.com and stay away from here!!!

Thanks to the people for speaking up and telling us about their dealings with benya.

I for one am glad his shady behavior has now been exposed to the community.

Just goes to show you: New guy's...Always check the feedback forum before dealing with anybody...

That makes no sense at all. Benya had perfect feedback.

Most likely because most people/the newbie's he's dealt with in the past would have most likely just finished the deal and put it behind them as quickly as possible rather then start a bunch of sh!t like this.

That's much easier to do then speak up against an established member and start a fuss.

Since everyone else is speaking up.I feel obligated to do so too.

I had a sour deal with benyaM95 Ranger Knif in March of 2008.I was still relatively new to the forum & didn't want to make any waves,so we agreed to leave each other positive feedback. The whole thing just left a bad taste in my mouth,& made me very leery of trading in general.

Here's the FS thread
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=543955

It's no big secret since this is what he left in my feedback. It's my first iTrader feedback BTW if you want to check.
Quote:
sent JTR357 a knife previously purchased on BF as NIB, without seeing the knife(it was part of cache of knives destine to Canada)
He checked it and sent me his knife next day. I should've been more careful about checking the knife in the first place.
Igor sent me a not just used, but a beat to hell Buck 880T in trade for my brand spankin new in box Kershaw SG2 Blur. The Buck looked like it was used for work on a construction site. The blade was scratched up,uncentered,& rubbing the one side of the liner.Igor said he didn't see it before it was shipped.Yet he claimed it was brand new in his trade description.
Quote:
Yes.
Its NIB
you can reach me through email as well
synayuk@cabletv.on.ca
I sent the Blur to an American address too,but don't remember where.
That is where he wanted me to ship a knife he bought from me but I was a day late shipping it off so I ask for his Canada address and sent it there instead. The day he got the knife he relisted it for sale in the Canadian forum for more then I sold it to him for. What really got me though was he used the photo I had in my description when I sold it to him. I emailed him and ask him to please remove my photo and use his own.
I almost hate to bring this up, but I feel like folks need to know.

In Feb. of 2009, I sold a knife to Igor "benyaM95 Ranger Knif" and while as far as I know it went OK, since I never heard from him again after shipping the knife, because I was unwilling to ship a Buck 110 to Canada for fear of their customs seizing it, he gave me a US address to ship to, with a different name than what was on his PayPal account, and the email address he was using was not the same as the one on the PayPal account.

This made me a little nervous, and so I did some google work and discovered that the Email address he was using, omaha888@gmail.com, was the same address used by a member here that disappeared after another "deal gone bad" scandal, username Saf-t-cab

Again I thank you for speaking up...

PS, I wonder who the guests is.

I'm not denying that Benya could be in the wrong here, I'm just saying that I've seen people trash their hard earned reputation in a heartbeat on BFC. It sucks to see that happen.

I totally understand...it's a scary thought.

I think what happened here (again just one man's opinion) is that he tried to slip one by another new guy, but this time he did it to the wrong guy and got called on his bullsh!t.

It might seem redundant at this point, but I have to say that after reading this and other threads regarding benya's transactions, I'm going to have to side with nirvanero on this one unless benya can offer some compelling evidence on his own behalf (which I doubt).

Keep in mind that reputation isn't everything. An alarming number of sellers with 99% or better feedback on eBay knowingly sell fake or otherwise inferior merchandise. People are glad to leave positive feedback until they realize they've been had.

I guess frontline29 has compiled too many complaints about him to call that a "perfect feedback". I know what you mean, but it seems feedback isn't everything. Maybe you should take into account that I haven't (yet) give negative feedback.

Igor has lied and sold used knives not only to me, but other people I didn't know before posting this. If I get into a bank 50 times a year and make a robbery just once... I'm a thief or not?

it's very easy for igor to turn around and say that nirvanero had second thoughts about paying that much for a knife and either defaced the military he was sent, or substituted another military in the photos. nirvanero is a new guy here but apparently he is trustworthy enough for knifeworks to broker his shipping overseas. to me that says a lot. I think that he is a collector, needed a NIB/mint Military to fill in his collection, got a knife that did not meet anyone's standards of NIB/mint and was upset. I think that what Igor calls "extortion" is nirvanero's attempt to either recover some of his money for a knife that was not worth what he paid for instead of putting the knife at risk shipping overseas again and losing it AND his money.

I have to side with nirvanero on this one. that knife isn't NIB by anyone's standards, and though I am not a collector, I understand wanting/needing perfect examples of a model to fill the gaps in a collection. It would be different if he wanted a user knife.

benya could have prevented shooting himself in the foot with this deal if only his whole attitude was more understanding that maybe he DID make a mistake instead of accusing a new member of trying to screw him. If we alienate EVERY new member who joins BFC or our hobby, there won't be anyone left. for every new guy scammer there are fifty new members who are valuable assets to this forum.

I think there is a difference between feedback on Ebay and your reputation here. You get about 25 words to explain when you leave feedback on Ebay. This has gone for 6 pages and has been pretty compelling. You are right about people not knowing they were duped until after they have left their big thumbs up though. I know that I report about 6-10 fake Spyderco's a month on Ebay and not one single auction has ended early.

I must admit that threads like this and others I have read over the years are the exact reason I don't do more purchases in the exchange. I have had 2 dealings here that were less than perfect and will not be reflected in iTrader feedback. One was returned with no issue and the other I had to order a part to make the knife whole after emailing the seller for months about the part and being told that they were out of stock on it. I called and got it delivered to the house no charge in less than a week.

If everybody just guided themselves on the premise of honesty and disclosure there would be a lot less threads like these. To the original poster I really hope you are somehow made whole on this deal and thank you for being brave and putting yourself out there!
