Bad Caution dealing with member Knives&More

LNIB is a vague term, but should come with full disclosure as to disassembly or anything else. I have used the term before, but that is the beginning of a description not the end. The use of the term argument is over (IMO) when screws are missing . I can't see anyone properly referring to that as LNIB. I would also be concerned about the proper assembly if the person forgot or loss screws. That is beyond stretch and in the class of NIB stuck in a tree. In both cases you have passed any proper use of the terms.
That is true because I was saying his terms of LNIB were fine with me AFTER he disclosed that he had only taken them out to oil.

I do believe he should have disclosed it first. I don’t want it to sound like I think you can use a knife , disassemble it, polish it up and label it as new. If he had said “hey I took the scales off to oil it and put them back with meticulous care” and labeled it as LNIB, it would be fine by me. But that’s not what happened, it was never disclosed plus he gave a smart answer to a guy that I guess doesn’t like smart answers from newbies.

You are right that he should have disclosed them, no disagreement there.
I also shouldn’t have used the term “kid telling on other kids” that was out of line and I will edit my post.

I just think this is a little dramatic for GBU.

Did you buy the knife? No
Did he scam you? No
Did you receive any defective knife? No
Did he try to hide the fact he took them off? No
Did he mean no harm? Probably?
Was he a smart alleck ? Well.. yeah..

I just think you guys’ disagreement on LNIB has been blown outta proportion just a smidge. So I will see my way out. Hope you guys resolve this and maybe teach him to post better descriptions?
No need to start attacking reputations, we’re all knife guys and gals here.:D

I think LNIB is too vague to act on alone. I suggest members ask for the sellers clarification of what LNIB means to them, if it is used and if they care what the exact answer is.

I have not finished reading the entire thread (and will continue reading) but I agree with Peter on this. In fact, I would try not to use words like LNIB as different people may have different meanings of it. Rather I'd just describe the history and current condition of the knife.

The last thing any LEO wants is attention. Especially where the pubic is involved.
Wife is going on 26 years and will deny being involved in law enforcement.
Every good officer I have ever met would never think to trade on their badge for any kind of validation.
I was with a great friend , US Marshal , out on Hwy 395 , got pulled over doing about 95 mph. CHP tried to let us go after seeing his ID , Jeff insisted on the ticket. His comment was " I'm just a guy who you caught speeding."

At this point, I'm not going to try and reply to every post. There are obviously a few who think I'm an ass for starting this, and think I have motives here other than trying to protect our community. I'm done trying to prove otherwise, and the folks here who know me know that's not the case, so that's all I care about. Roll your eyes at me, put me on ignore whatever. I think you might want to read further before passing judgement, however.

I will say that this snowballed due to a few things. One, @Knives&More and I obviously have different opinions of "LNIB". Two, him quickly getting so defensive over something that could have just been a, "Hey man, sorry about that. I did XYZ to it, and thought I could list it as LNIB. My bad. The knife is in great shape, and you can send it back no charge if there's something you don't like." But no, instead we end up with a 5-page thread in GBU. Three, after I started this thread we start getting a self-proclaimed 18-yo claiming to be in law enforcement, and conspicuously ignoring me about that when I directly questioned it.

And now, the coup de gras, some of the super mods here report that F&M and his "Knight in Shining Armor", @Stutary12 , were posting from the same IP address yesterday. o_O On the same day. Nothing suspicious about that... Not breaking any of the rules... I feel the ban hammer a comin'!!!

Wow. Just wow. :poop:

Wow, I'm glad several people posted their opinions in this thread, they've outed themselves as fools I will avoid. Gotta love when people help you know to avoid them

For the record Spyderphreak is 100% correct.

Exactly my thoughts! Love the ignore function ;)...

I think perhaps more detailed descriptions would be beneficial in addition to what condition a person lists for the item. Ok for example. Used excellent condition has been sharpened once and partially disassembled for cleaning, no issues etc. Full disclosure works out best for everyone at the end of the day imo

My first thought was that one account is for buying, the other for selling. But looking into it, that's not the case either. Can't wait to hear the excuse.

SpyderPhreak has done nothing wrong in this matter.

These kinds of threads in GBU will sometimes bring something not-so-kosher to the surface as in this instance. Sometimes people reveal their true nature - be it forum members involved in a transaction or those merely chiming in.

As it has now transpired, that …

They are both from the same city and have used the same IP address. How amusing.
… the result of this in GBU can potentially save members involved in transactions some grief, as theyll heed this thread and others like it and not least those in it.

Contrary to what you two believe, these kind of threads in GBU are actually good for sorting the wheat from the chaff.

8 transactions are not a whole lot. We've seen scammers in for the long con with way more positive feedback.

Sometimes there is stuff going on below the surface and people can be more devious, than you give them credit for....or not.

Wouldnt you guys wake up with eggs on your faces, if there was more to this, than what is apparent from just a glance.

LNIB with missing screws and needing to be cleaned. A 18 yrs old LEO.
Really.

Id be interested in hearing @McFeeli and @Goose 7279 s opinion on this.

This thread is justified IMO. Those that state it was a simple mistake or misinterpretation of the term(s) LNIB and NIB is almost irrelevant in this instance.

Knives and More forgot to put screws back on after disassembly..and then took pictures..and then posted them in a WTS. Lol

Only to disclose after this was noticed/mentioned..w/ an attitude..(small things, prehaps)... then wants to argue on a definition.. then claims, with out follow up, to be LEO..as some sort of character reference..not stating K&M is or isnt LEO.. false LEO claims are, at the very least, a form of Stolen Valor..and an indication of one's character..If he is LEO, it's bad form to have claimed so quickly , on this particular. Another character issue.

All of this would led me to start a GBU thread as well. If only to inform my brothers and sisters on the heads up.

These threads are a service to the board, even if only to reveal some members character.

New member, (yea, 8 deals is a new member) w/ no reciprocated feedback, another character issue...w/ another new member, protector/defender. ..from the same IP address?

You did the right thing, Spyder.

Knives and More...retail shop in Wichita, Kansas...relation?

Something tells me we won't be hearing from these "two" again. Big surprise though.

I'm betting the mods have given an ultimatum, but I doubt they'll he'll even have the wherewithal to come back and face the music, which will result in a ban after a few days have passed without a response.

Prove me wrong @Knives&More and @Stutary12, please, we're all ears! ;)

Man.. Just when you think you can give someone the benefit of the doubt, this happens.. I retract everything I said about anything on the topic.

Same IP's..?
Somethin is smelling a little phunky.

You can work in loss prevention or security at 18 and detain people legally- including using force to keep them where they are for the cops. Not exactly "law enforcement" but I've heard more than one security person refer to themselves as such.
