That is true because I was saying his terms of LNIB were fine with me AFTER he disclosed that he had only taken them out to oil.LNIB is a vague term, but should come with full disclosure as to disassembly or anything else. I have used the term before, but that is the beginning of a description not the end. The use of the term argument is over (IMO) when screws are missing . I can't see anyone properly referring to that as LNIB. I would also be concerned about the proper assembly if the person forgot or loss screws. That is beyond stretch and in the class of NIB stuck in a tree. In both cases you have passed any proper use of the terms.
I do believe he should have disclosed it first. I don’t want it to sound like I think you can use a knife , disassemble it, polish it up and label it as new. If he had said “hey I took the scales off to oil it and put them back with meticulous care” and labeled it as LNIB, it would be fine by me. But that’s not what happened, it was never disclosed plus he gave a smart answer to a guy that I guess doesn’t like smart answers from newbies.
You are right that he should have disclosed them, no disagreement there.
I also shouldn’t have used the term “kid telling on other kids” that was out of line and I will edit my post.
I just think this is a little dramatic for GBU.
Did you buy the knife? No
Did he scam you? No
Did you receive any defective knife? No
Did he try to hide the fact he took them off? No
Did he mean no harm? Probably?
Was he a smart alleck ? Well.. yeah..
I just think you guys’ disagreement on LNIB has been blown outta proportion just a smidge. So I will see my way out. Hope you guys resolve this and maybe teach him to post better descriptions?
No need to start attacking reputations, we’re all knife guys and gals here.
