Caveat Emptor zakjak221

Thanks for the thread. Based upon how this has been handled post-sale, I have one more to add to my ignore list.

Cray,
Sure,I'll explain,or u can look at for sale thread.
I listed knife as never used, sharpened or carried. ..which it was not.
There was no blood on knife when I shipped it?
So his complaint is about a spec of rust on front tube fastner which I honestly didn't see.
So maybe he has buyers remorse or saw another knife that he likes better?
I'm not responsible for that.

It seems that the overwhelming majority of forum members here think you are responsible, now that photos have been posted. Has your opinion changed?

Spot-on advice. I hope Hoka seriously considers following it. In the spirit of his stated motivating factor behind the original post, I believe that many members of this particular community would really appreciate it - especially those actively buying, selling or trading. iTrader feedback functions as another critical tool in ensuring, to the greatest extent possible, that unscrupulous behavior and dishonorable attitudes are given no quarter here.

Hoka if you can't get a refund, which you very obviously deserve, you should nail the seller with a negative feedback. Lying about condition is some BS, and refusing to refund when called out on lying is what I would consider bannable behavior. Ruin that 100% feedback that he clearly did not deserve. I would be livid if I was in your situation.

I had one dealing that wound up with me not disclosing condition (I was unaware that the knife I traded had been modified, the recipient told me), and I simply apologized and corrected it. No deal is worth your reputation, and no seller with a shred of dignity will knowingly leave a buyer on the hook for his (the seller's) ignorance.

dkb45, thank you for the reminder. We all make mistakes. Some need more persuading to do the right thing than others.
Feedback addressed.

See if you can get your post on the sale thread updated with a link to this thread. Currently unless you know to look for this thread it just shows a bad feedback with no real info as to why.

He put the link to this thread as the text in the comment section of the negative feedback given. If you click the link it goes to the sales thread, but copy and paste the text and it sends you right here. Clever.

Now make sure you report the retaliatory feedback he left for you. Spark takes that very seriously.

Yes do make sure to report that. The seller is in the wrong on this, not you. You held up your end, tried to follow everything by the book for being an unhappy buyer, and then had to resort to calling him out after proper channels failed.

Thanks for the heads-up. I checked back several times yesterday after 9Nine posted to see if zj would respond. Thread Information listed him as on here for long enough, I would think, to have read the thread in its entirety and 9Nine's post remained the last for a good part of the day, so the invitation was tough to miss. Rather than responding he's chosen to post me a negative feedback, which I think further illuminates his character. I will report the issue, but as this thread is still somewhat recent, I'll leave it alone for now. I've posted the link to this thread with his comments and that's just another place to find it. Maybe it's time to go hunting for another blade!

I just realized something in reviewing my emails with him... Before sending PayPal I asked, 'It's $335 regular PayPal purchase, correct?' To which he replied '$335 is net to me'. I had been under the impression from his sales post that '$335 shipped and Paypal'd TYD' meant the fees were included, but wasn't sure and didn't think much of it at the time.

From the sales thread I would have said the price included the fees. Many here don't like ads net to me or plus fees, but my thoughts have always been that what PP really hates is for someone to sell at a price and add the fees on after(hidden fees)-as this would have been.
The retaliatory feedback should get him a good slap.

Wow, what another lame move by the seller here. Not properly describing item, refusing to make it right for buyer when seller was made aware of the problems and had pics from the buyer - told him too bad, and now having the nerve to leave the buyer retaliatory bad FB. Not to mention: failing to address the pictures, etc here. Very lame.

Seems like a very childish thing to do.
I would t wait that long to bring this to Spark's attention.

Would someone advise me as to the appropriate avenue to report retaliatory feedback? I'm not seeing anything that addresses the matter.

Don't wait on it. Report the retaliatory feedback. Might be time to talk to a mod to see what to do next. Also seems that the seller is not listing his price clearly. If the price is net to him he needs to say that. The rules are clear on this:

rule 6 from selling: Be specific with all details of payment. There is no eBay style auctioning allowed. If you want to entertain trade offers, say so in your sales thread (For Sale Or Trade); it is allowed.

Next to the feedback in your itrader page there is a report button. Also contact a mode about starting a thread in tech support. They can advise you.

Ah, the caution sign... Thank you, craytab. Yes, I think that including 'Paypal'd TYD' at least implies that the fees are included in the posted price. Certainly a flag I should have seen as a warning and should have called him on then.
Report has been sent. Thanks to all for the guidance in making this experience most beneficial for all.

That is a definite bait and switch on the payment method. One of the reasons I did not question the payment method earlier, because it seemed very clear in the ad that payment was for PP Goods covered on the sellers end.

OP, when you finally said that you paid F&F because you thought there should be trust and didn't need more legal issues in this world....there is an issue with PayPal giving away a service meant only for gifts. Cutting them out of their fee to save a buck or two on an obvious transaction is really not fair for them either. Just thought I'd point that out. From the way the seller listed, they should have paid the fee. And in my eyes, the seller should also be reprimanded here for the bait and switch tactic. Not to mention using a blurry pic to conceal the issues now confirmed.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.
